Since starting Plus 8 Records at the turn of the ‘90s, Richie Hawtin has shaped not just the sound of electronic music, but also the culture and industry around it, like few others. He developed the tool that went on to change the art of DJing (Final Scratch), established a seminal club night in Ibiza (ENTER.), built a veritable techno empire (M_nus), and most importantly, released some of the most memorable music in techno history. Now the latter doesn’t happen all too often these days, so we’re even more excited to present a brand new recording under a new alias, 80XX. ‘Crawlr’ is one of four 80XX tracks recorded in Berlin this year to coincide with the release of Hawtin’s new album, From My Mind To Yours – a raw banger that channels the energy of the early ‘90s while demonstrating how this Red Bull Music

Underground means below the surface.  Hidden away.  The first generation of global DJ's had a mission which I was one.  The mission was to deliver a gift.  A gift of music.  25 years passed very quickly.  We went from city to city every weekend and played Electronic Music.  I never played like anyone else, and when the new generations of DJ's arrived, I had to focus on me, and not try to conform to what everyone else does to gain popularity.   We get paid to entertain the crowd and to master the worlds dance floor comes with experience.  Only a few days into 2016, I have been a professional DJ for 31 years.  I got my first paycheck in Brooklyn at Wheelers in Sheepshead Bay for $200.  But I never looked back, I never stopped trying to define my sound.   So here is to 2016.  My secret for society.

Frankie Bones has had an immeasurable impact on the way we enjoy music in the early 21st century. The rich history he has developed and spread since the end of the 80s has birthed the his genre bending style of production and allowed for so many careers to blossom under his supervision. Taking nightlife and morphing into a way of life. The transcendent escapism that transforms partying into a way out of the trappings of our physical world and into something felt by all that's much more real and much more positive.

"Call It Techno" was the blueprint track which was written on June 4, 1989.  It was at the forefront of European Rave Culture and became a well known track in the U.K. & Germany.  The documentary "We Call It Techno" explains it right from the beginning and from that came the second & third Love Parade themes being named "The Future Is Ours" off the XL/Citibeat LP by Musto & Bones.  And "My House Is Your House" from the Break Boys which was Frankie Bones aka on Fourth Floor Records in 1990.

Frankie became the American Pioneer of Rave Culture on both coasts in 1990, playing Techno as a movement.  The Peace, Love, Unity Movement which in 1993 became PLUR after a fight broke out at an event in The Bronx which had Richie Hawtin as it's headliner.

And the rest is history.  If words can paint the picture here, the first 5 Soundcloud links will describe a DJ who has a journey of a lifetime & still is active in 2024.  The music that comes from the heart & soul of the Brooklyn Underground.
