This is personal.  I met Frankie Knuckles in 1990 through his Def Mix partner David Morales way back when David was a resident at Red Zone.  We crossed paths many times until the last time I spoke with him in Miami in 2004.  My last question to Frankie was "Does anyone ever get you confused with me?  His reply was "absolutely not".  And I said "Straight white people are funny, cause it happens to me all the time".  We LOLLED.  Do you know the man went to his grave with my picture in his box on his Wikipedia page.   No shit.  That was the screenshot.

Leonard "Remix" Rroy was the friend who told me Frankie had passed away on March 31, 2014 and it was about 8 hours before anything on the internet surfaced.  Also being the last day at WMC 2014 and April Fools Day coming, nobody was believing the news.   I made sure they fixed the picture and went into the lab to make this dedication to Frankie.

Look up: Frankie Knuckles moment of silence Cielo 4-4-2014 - On Youtube.  I also dropped  the moment of silence at Cielo that weekend and by now the word was out.  We lost one of the greatest DJ's o our times.

Fast Forward to late June, Jes-One and I are on a 6 hour drive to the Northwoods of Wisconsin and he is playing me a new mix he made when the Stanton Warriors mix of "Your Love" by Knuckles, comes on.  I no sooner look to the east and see this giant Rainbow in the sky.  While first hearing the best remix of his biggest song.

Now ask yourself "Can Frankie deliver Rainbows?"    I'd have to say yes.

"Call It Techno" was the blueprint track which was written on June 4, 1989.  It was at the forefront of European Rave Culture and became a well known track in the U.K. & Germany.  The documentary "We Call It Techno" explains it right from the beginning and from that came the second & third Love Parade themes being named "The Future Is Ours" off the XL/Citibeat LP by Musto & Bones.  And "My House Is Your House" from the Break Boys which was Frankie Bones aka on Fourth Floor Records in 1990.

Frankie became the American Pioneer of Rave Culture on both coasts in 1990, playing Techno as a movement.  The Peace, Love, Unity Movement which in 1993 became PLUR after a fight broke out at an event in The Bronx which had Richie Hawtin as it's headliner.

I’ve loved electronic music since I was young from Duran Duran to Depeche Mode to New Order to Ministry, Skinny Puppy, FRONT 242, Siouxsie & The Banshees, to DJs Sasha & John Digweed, Tiga, Jeno & Garth, and The Hardkiss Brothers (Scott, Robbie & Gavin Hardkiss) the list is endless. Today I still love to use vinyl records in my sets along with digital files & CDs. As an audio engineer from SAE Expression College I prefer to use vinyl records or AIFF/WAV files when I am putting out an 320kpbs MP3 recording of a set that I’m DJing so as to keep the best sound quality.
