The young French producer and DJ Oliver Andrade returns to Dessous Recordings with his brand new, fresh for 2014 EP, 'Madness'. 

The release kicks off with 'Egregius' - quite a statement for this rising talent in European house circles. The lead track evokes classic deep house from the US Mid-West, whilst never being defined by its influence. Synths bubble to the surface, pads wash over the raw and funky drum track, and a looped vocal ties the whole piece together. 

'Madness' treads a similar path, but with a slightly tougher vibe. The atmospheric, late-night mood is enhanced with reversed samples, lush chords and the occasional robotic voice. 

'Bac a Sable' shakes things up with an unsettling rhythm that works its way into an infectious driving groove, accentuated by jarring synths. It feels specifically tailored to pushing that early morning crowd to the next level. 

Beatport customers get an exclusive track - 'Internal Affairs' - a boisterous, 90s style house bomb with an insistent riff and energetic groove.

Holland’s HEY! Records is on a roll, following up the hugely well received Michel de Hey EP earlier this year with a new release featuring music from the label boss & associates. Those associates are Italian maestros Richard Cleber and Enzo Tucci who collaborate with Michel on the opening track and new boy Chris Stussy who seals the deal with a standout remix.

Inspired by Michel’s DJ sets and hearing him play some of their tracks, this Italian pair asked if Michel was interested in working on a project together. A track then went back and forth and the final result is the excellent ‘Point of No Return’ heard here. Another track Michel, Richard and Enzo made will be released later via Crash Records in Italy.

The top ‘Point of No Return’ track itself is a big and bouncy house cut with airy drums and fulsome hits demanding you get up and dance. Smeared synths bring some soul, wordless vocals add that key human element and the whole thing brims and bristles with feel-good vibes.

Also on the EP is a fantastic remix by hot new production talent, Chris Stussy. This guy is taking big steps into the world of house with releases on labels like Large and Nite Grooves to name a few. Later this year his remix for Marco Farina is also coming out on this label, but first this banging take on ‘Basic Eggs’ makes a real impact. It has a fresh US house groove and thumping kicks that drive it along, while a loose, elastic bass line really brings the funk.

This is a buoyant house package that really will bring a fresh house party feel to any DJ set and marks another high point for the always excellent HEY! Records.

Making his debut on Libero, Oxford-based Gibraltarian producer, Jezen. Following on from an impressive stream of releases, ‘The Things You Know’ EP delivers an exceptional combination of original club cuts, both tracks already played by Marco Carola, Loco Dice and more - supplemented by a remix from Leicestershire talents, Murphy’s Law.

‘Like You Should’ takes the shape of a late-night mood setter. A quintessential Music On-esque number - often a treat for the earlier dancefloor descendants - comprising a potent mixture of percussive factors, punchy kicks, and crisp rhythms. Throwing a pinch of the early 2010s deep house flavour in with its bassline and synth melodies; a steady groover that leaves a lasting effect.

‘The Things You Know’ turns the momentum up slightly, adding more roll and shuffle into the mix. Crammed with atmospheric scenes and injections of cadent flair. Continuing the fashion of strong, reminiscent melodic undertones, yet another standout track with indisputable impact.

Completing the triple threat, Murphy’s Law remix of the title track injects yet another layer of energy into the release. A robust adaptation of ‘The Things You Know’ with a constant, blistering low end and raw harmonics offer a gritty alternative to an already definitive piece of music. With hints of UK Tech character dotted throughout, the increasingly-popular duo rounds off the release nicely.
