One of the best free downloads in recent years. Such a weird and unique groove, simultaneously completely new and alien and fresh but also completely part of the long lineage of all the old weird evolutionary branches of oldschool hardcore. I bought the Tellurian 12" and I played it loads but as time passes I have noticed the tune off it I have played the most by far has been this free one. Its not a million miles away from Lynx's "Disco Dodo" but it's nimble and lightfooted and playful where that tune was plodding and punchdrunk. Definitely one of the most interesting and singular voices in modern Drum and Bass music, very few people in your corner of the scene have anything even approaching your feeling for rhythm and your understanding of classic breaks.  .

Brazilian D&B producer Bungle has dropped new EP ‘Runaway', out 1st September via the rising Eloisa Records.

The three track EP begins with title track ‘Runaway’ that see’s a rolling and grit fuelled bassline interject superbly with sharp and snappy percussion. Things take a deeper and darker turn with ‘Unleashed’ as technical and expansive atmospherics run rampant throughout the tune as the drums chop and change exquisitely. Seeing things home is an industrial growler, and not one for the faint hearted. The aptly name ‘Articulate’ is Bungle at his best and will no doubt be a choice cut for DJs across the drum & bass spectrum. 

‘Runaway’ marks the fifth release on the burgeoning Eloisa, the fresh  imprint ‘on a mission to surpass barriers in the D&B scene’. Under the Inperspective Music Group umbrella, the label is determined to instil some fresh energy across the genre. DJ, producer, sound designer, dedicated perfectionist: Bertran van den Hoff has been honing his tense, moody signature since he first fell in love with the dark designs of late 90s tech-driven underground drum & bass. Committed to the dark art of studio-craft for over a decade, and even longer learning the psychology of the dancefloor and the language of mix alchemy as a DJ; he has played across the world from Fabric London to the Great Wall of China via multiple Noisia Invites appearances. He’s also released music on a wide range of respected, agenda-setting imprints such as Flexout, Noisia's Invisible, Dispatch, Critical Music, and Playaz.

Years of deep fine-tuning. Understanding the science of sonics. Really knowing the sound, textures and grooves he wants to bring into the world… All these things and more have led to a consistency and high benchmark in everything he does. This could be one of his ever-growing body of collaborations with Amoss; his recent explorations into techno with The Futurist; any of the high levels of intoxicating, spacious hip-hop influenced halftime in his work; it could even be his dapper moustache… Nothing leaves the Fre4knc laboratory until he knows he’s done himself, the groove and the movement justice.
