Following the release of the vinyl version in November, Music For Dreams is rereleasing the Cantoma album on CD and digital download, The album is produced by Phil Mison, one of the UK’s most notorious cratediggers and music collectors. Phil has been one of the key players in the chill out scene and is in more demand than ever, playing festivals all over Europe as well as smaller intimate clubs with standout gigs this year including DJ Harvey’s birthday bash at Pikes in Ibiza and playing alongside NYC legend Justin Strauss. 

The album was originally released in 2003 and quickly become a modern chill out classic selling 15.000 albums with support from Ross Allen, Idjut Boys, Moonboots, and DJ Harvey. Tracks from the album have also been featured on more than 150 compilations. The album includes all the original material that has become modern balearic, chill and lounge classics including the dubbed flamenco track ‘Pandajero‘, the Indian vibes of ‘The Call’, ‘Rain’ showcasing Phil’s fantastic guitar playing over timeless electronic beats, the beautiful “Essarai”, the dubby Compass Point like “Overtime” and the Mediterranean moods of “Etolie.

This release also contains bonus tracks that were recorded during the original sessions of the album and were only used on special limited edition Japanese releases and compilations. These include the summery ‘Bill Morgan On The Organ’, the atmospheric ‘Trussevich’ and the accordion based “Katja”.  Whilst digging in the archives at Music For Dreams headquarters, the label discovered another great find, the unreleased gem “Mondo Christy” - an uptempo rhythm strong Joe Claussell like stomper featuring a beautiful violin blended with acoustic guitars. The album also features the sought after Banzai Republic Remix of ‘The Call’, a track DJ Harvey included on his legendary San Diego Mixes from 2004.  A special bonus is the brand new and excellent Ruf Dug remix of “Pandajero” the most popular and compiled track of the album. Manchester’s Ruf Dug, whose recent album release ‘Island’ made substantial waves on the electronica scene, slows down the original and adds his magnificent Compass Point style production - turning it into a sunset tune with added Wally Badarou style keys. The vinyl version is limited to 300 copies. No repress.

When my friends at Flight Facilities asked me to remix their amazing track ‘Stranded’ I couldn’t wait to hit the studio and get started.

The song features fantastic vocal performances by both Reggie Watts and Saro and all of the instrumentation was just a joy to work with.

Absent-mindedly dipping your hand in the pool, you glance down as your skin shimmers lightly in tandem with the pristine blue water. Reaching to grab your cocktail, you find yourself sticking to the sun lounger like melted cheese. Weird. Hang on, you could’ve sworn that baby hippo wasn’t wearing sunglasses the last time you looked over? Whatever, the music sounds incredible right now, and you breathe a deep sigh as the waves wash in.

Landing on our own Ransom Note Records, following our Pen Pals 2 compilation and Flug 8 LP release, is a long player from Hologram Teen AKA former Stereolab keyboardist Morgane Lhote. Her debut as a solo artist came five years ago followed by her first album Between The Funk and the Fear surfacing in 2018. Now she comes correct with her sophomore release, Pizza Conspiracy: a kaleidoscopic marvel that folds acid-drenched funk and Congolese rumba into astral jazz and Daisy Age hip-hop, reminiscent of 00's beat tapes à la MF Doom, Donuts, The Avalanches and Madlib's Beat Konducta series.

NYC-based duo and former rhythm section of The Rapture Mothers of Mars make a triumphant return to our Ransom Note Records following their first exploration back in 2018 with their Seed 2 Sky 12". Space Without A Shadow, feels like the missing piece or an extension of the two synth-driven opuses on their label debut, this time featuring the angelic vocals of Japanese expat Jaiko Suzuki​ and a variety of percussion from across the globe. A strange fusion of sounds, the track unfolds through a beating kick and layers of driving percussion, joined by repetitive synth riffs and Jaiko's airy vocals that subtly bounce off one another in the foreground. As an appendix to the original, the duo have called on longtime friend Willie Burns to weird up the dancefloor and Glaswegian producer Mr TC who reinvents the track into a progressive bass-driven rework.

Fred Berthet is this mysterious Frenchman known as DJ STEEF who produced slow & funky downtempo house tracks in the past years. Based in Marseille this quiet but not shy producer has built his way on many different projects since the early 90’s where it all started.
After composing singles with Antoine Boullé under the pseudonym Venus Attack Project (on the label US Guidance), he created the band known as Troublemakers with his friend Lionel Corsini & Arnaud Taillefert. After an over-welcomed first LP ("Doubts & Convictions" on Guidance rec) and well received worldwide, Concecration came on the second one on Blue Note (“Express Way”) pushing The Troublemakers at one of the top electronic band in the French scene.
Fred later on focused his attention on Copyshop project, influenced by the 80’s (Gomma, Toy Tonics, La Dame Noir, Numoment...). Producing now under DJ Steef its was the occasion to synthesize his musical roots such as 80’s electro pop, poisonous disco, classy french influences, insistent downtempo and up warding house. Fred has found in his alter ego DJ Steef the perfect combinasion of incredible fat, slow, funky downtempo house tracks that every body is so crazy about.Its not about fashion but clearly about style & thats why we all love his production stamped BIOMIX, in the shadows, under cover & simply outstanding.
