Influenced by the straight up NY rock n roll and indie surf-rock from the west coast, the old 60’s and 70’s psychedelic, hard rock, folk and much more, Sportdad started as a duo project in late 2017 when songwriter Stewart Heigold met Romain Garriot, french guitarist and producer at various venues of the dynamic nightlife of San José, Costa Rica.

While accumulating demos, they released their first single “Octopus”, mixed by American producer Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, Hinds, Regina Spektor…) in may 2018. Sportdad established itself as a live band with Daniel Solorzano (drums) and Guillaume Devigne (bass) joining the cast, right after the release of Octopus. The group played countless shows in Costa Rica, had a tour in France and has been invited to perform in Guatemala on a couple of occasions.

“Yeah yeah sure, whatever”, their first EP, was recorded by Belgium engineer and producer Jeff Claeys (Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Millionaire, Van Jet…). Produced on a 60’s analogue way, aiming for a raw, live, authentic and human sound.
