Satoshi Tomiie & Matthias Vogt "Love Unlimited" EP

Two legends unite on this very special collaboration for Lazy Days. In 2009, Matthias did a project for Satoshi’s label, Saw and kept in touch since. He played for their party in Tokyo and more recently, Satoshi played with him in Frankfurt. It was then that they decided to take the next step into the studio. So finally here it is, the first dialogue of this odd brand new duo. 

The result is a 2 track ep, true to their musical heritage as both trained pianist, borrowing moods from the Motor City in a modern, yet timeless way.

-This is Matthias Vogt third EP for us, “Under The Radar” and “Barrique & Shrulliver” with Ian Pooley as MVIP. He is a former founding member of Motorcitysoul and also performs and record as Re:Jazz and with his Matthias Vogt trio. All of that while keeping a busy worldwide DJ schedule.

-Satoshi Tomiie is highly touted as Japan’s finest and most successful DJ. Since starting his career with house music classic “Tears” with the recently departed Frankie Knuckles, Tomiie has gone on to release and remix music for labels varying from Strictly Rhythm to Sony Music. From there Satoshi co-founded the infamous SAW.RECORDINGS which continues to serve as platform to highlight Satoshi’s extensive discography including the recent releases with DJ Joeski (Satoeski) and his remix of Guti’s ‘Keep It.’ He also toured as a keyboard player for Ryuichi Sakamoto (of Yellow Magic Orchestra) and has remixed U2, Mariah Carey, Simply Red and David Bowie to name but a few.

Shanti Planti is proud to present its second official release, “Lostwithiel”, by the burgeoning musical force, Akasha Experience.  This otherworldly opus has been immaculately intentioned, for the listener to have an utmost purifying and exalting experience.  Ultimately culminating and aggrandizing the deification of Dub, the extrasensory entities behind these sacral sounds humbly wish for you to join them, in further discovering worlds uncharted, exploring the luminiferous æther and their channeling of ineffable, electronic Esoterica.  This five track EP is brimming with loads of levitational frequencies, misty-eyed musings and an indescribable cadence that epitomizes each vibratory vista; including a reconfiguration by the up-and-coming Parisian duo, Land Switcher.

Welcome one and all, to Cirque du Cosmique!  Look deep within your mind and see manifest a display of glorious grandeur.  Our first destination, on our journey towards Nada Brahma, is at the lucid locale known as, “Soul Circus.”  It is verily evident that this track was meticulously crafted and has the sole purpose of facilitating heightened states of consciousness, with its inward spiraling rhythm and metacognitive melodies.  Multiethnic instrumentation graciously inundates this phonic pageantry, as glitches of gypsy likeness and an aerial aesthetic fill the space between notes.  An initiatory composition of this magnitude is guaranteed to set your feet ablaze and soul aloft!

Opening with a sample of an anecdote about dimethyl dreamtime, by Ethnopharmacologist and legendary shamanic scholar, Dennis McKenna, “Shanti Planti,” is an East-meets-West, culture-bridging mantra.  An uprooting bass and squelches galore beautifully complement the mellifluous structure of this tune.  However, the most propulsive element to this track has to be the romping, tribal percussion and tidbits of tasty tablas, talking loquaciously.  The interface of acoustic and electronic implementation is seamless, and the overall vibe of this track will have listeners enamored with Indra’s Net of Jewels.

The title track, “Lostwithiel,” starts very hazy.  It is easy to imagine the picturesque, verdant Cornish landscapes that inspired these serene soundscapes.  From the first note, one will understand that this song is optimal, for introspection.  As a hang drum gently ensues, exuberant emanations of blissful beats swell.  This song is ripe with repose and refinement, as the auditory architecture shines above all and was built to uplift Spirit and stimulate neurotransmitters.  It is only natural that this magnificent Ethno-Dub gem would share the same name as the EP.

Land Switcher’s remix of “Soul Circus”, is this EP’s penultimate tune.  These lads are gaining quite a reputation, at such a rapid pace, and rightfully so.  They always seem to lace their manifestations with a certain, potent psychotropic proponent.  Whether it’s their sagacious sound design or ever-evolving methods for production, Land Switcher is all about making a lasting impression.  In this remix, they exemplify their various techniques, by echoing motifs of cascading synths and a reverberating blasting of bass.  It is nice that this EP provides an albeit different approach to hearing one’s “Soul Circus.”

The final installment is a reincarnation of Quanta’s tune, “Quazilimbo.”  This rework is a pristine example of that classic, iconic Psychedelic Ambient-Dub sound, being consciously preserved, yet genuinely modified.  It features mesmeric melodies, celestial chants and a groove that germinates throughout the duration.  These are those heartbeats that cannot be contained and are just bursting with brilliance. An overwhelming feeling of surreal significance is deeply implanted and these cryptic codes need no demystifying, they’re omnipresent. This tune is accentuated by exotic overtones and a strong presence of Asiatic woodwinds, which flutter to soaring heights.

Akasha Experience and their Shanti Planti collective are only just beginning to emerge and consolidate.  Their amelioration is imminent and soon will take full form as an incredibly innovative and imaginative vanguard, of likeminded folk and sonic sages.  They all embody a passion for manifesting beautiful music that is unparalleled, as everyone taps into the Universal wellspring, of primordial vibration.

Blossom Kollektiv returns to vinyl once again after the success of Jepe’s “Spring Shadow,” this time around inviting House and Techno veteran Matthias Vogt to the label. The two-track EP of finely crafted melodic and emotive Techno features remixes from Oliver Gehrmann and Jepe and is sure to find its way into DJ bags world wide.

Starting the EP off on a strong note with Solace, Matthias Vogt takes us on a magical journey like we’re floating in the clouds with a driving kick and lush melodies that keep us soaring through the sky into a land of beautiful and lovely emotions. Then just when we feel like we’re about to fall the track uplifts us once again into a place of cosmic bliss with rich piano notes full of substance.

Playing with the rich piano notes of the original Oliver Gehrmann creates his own vision of Solace bringing a deeper and more after hours feel. The track takes us through the elements of the original but reworking it ever so slightly while never losing the strong emotional sense of the original. 

Next we come back to Matthias with Fluorescence where we once again are whisked of to a fascinating place full of melody and care free attitudes. However don’t let this allure fool you, powered by a heavy kick drum and tight percussion this track will work wonders on any peak hour dance floor bringing a sense of euphoria to the crowd. 

After returning from our blissful land Jepe brings us right to the floor with his straightforward house version of Fluorescence. Putting his stamp all over his version using classic piano stabs and funky percussion to make the track uplifting in a rhythmic way, then subtle synths from the original peek their heads out to create a little drama and suspense until the slamming kick drum kicks back in making the crowd move.

From 2004 - 2012, Frankfurt duo Motorcitysoul cut a fine line in sumptuous deep and tech house grooves on imprints du jour like Freerange, Ibadan Records, Aus and SImple. In some senses un(der)sung heroes of the era, their dissolution lead to a solo career for Matthias Vogt, the foundations of which he had already begun laying.

Pursuing the more melodic, dreamy elements of his former act’s composite sound, he’s forged a name for himself with his classy, deep, atmospheric works in recent times. Outings on labels like James Zabiela’s Born Electric and Fred Everything’s Lazy Days Recordings have been met with increasing acclaim, and there’s more on the way for Anjunadeep in the coming months. We’ve been trying to get a mix from him from the very start, so it’s with great pleasure we bring you this sublime session from Vogt, complete with a previously unreleased remix of Lana Del Rey.

*What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*

Everything that captures me in a way. All parameters of music are important: melody, harmony, groove, sound, production. Inspiration can come from everywhere: old and new music, movies, books, the environment, even politics, human behaviour. I always try to stay curious and open-minded.

*Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*

It was the first time for me to do a mix with just my own music. It gave me flashbacks and memories. Hope you dig.

Mercyless is arguably one of my most successful release to date. Originally released on my 2008 album "Lost Together" on Om Records and featuring Wayne Tennant on vocals, it became an anthem in South Africa amongst other places, thanks to the Atjazz Remix, who crossed over so many genres and sat on the Traxsource Top 10 for months. 

Fast forward 7 years, and the track still gets love. Out of the blue, my good friend Atjazz sent me this new updated version he did to play in his set, an edit of his original remix. This takes an already legendary remix to another level. 

We are proud to be releasing this exclusive Remix on Lazy Days. Vinyl and Digital out.

Mercyless(Atjazz Unreleased Astro Remix)

We are proud to present you Art Of Tones's first EP for Lazy Days. 

AOT is the brainchild of Ludovic Llorca's, formerly known for his work as Llorca on F-Communications. As Art Of Tones, he released music on labels like 20:20 Vision and Room With A View while remixing countless artists like his great rework of Tortured Soul "You Found A Way" for our 5 Years of Lazy Days Album.

This 4 track EP starts with the beautiful "Elephants", a very unique and musical dance floor treat. "Myself, My Body" goes a little darker with this gospel heavy track. Lastly, The Right Moment, brings down the tempo into a 70s influenced funk number. Also available on the digital release is the Dub of the title track "Elephants" 

Llorca is an old friend of the label and we're happy to have him as a part of the family.
