Born and raised on Detroit's westside in the late 60's Norm's addiction to music began at an early age.By the age of 13 years old Norm's diverse musical outlook consisted of Disco,Progressive,Jazz.Starting off Norm collected good music(45's-8-tracks-Vinyl)with proceeds earned from his paper route and eventually was introduced to Ken Collier who just happened to live 3 blocks over so needless to say most of the Disco and Progressive I attained was through Ken who was a DJ mentor for me.At this point and time I only had one turntable an eight-track player a receiver and some speakers.

The first show this year is a guestmix by Sven Weisemann from Berlin, Germany. I'm more than happy that Sven did a journey for the Deep Inspiration Show, because I'm a big fan of his productions, mixes and piano sessions since a long time. With this episode I also want to introduce the new Deep Inspiration Show introtrailer, which is produced by Sven Weisemann himself. Enjoy.  

Bio: Despite his young age, Weisemann has been DJing since 1997. His musical influences ranges from Classic, Soundtracks, Soul and Jazz, Deep House and Dub to his beloved Detroit Techno and US House. As a producer, his music draws deeply on the legacy of Chicago and Detroit, yet somehow manages to end up sounding as fresh as a daisy – records such as ‘Vibe’ and ‘Slices’ are house music that is half atmosphere and half beats, and not afraid to take its sweet time to lull the floor with their charms.

A self-taught musician who plays piano, acoustic guitar and percussion, Weisemann also composes jazz and soundtracks – traditions which also inform his house records no doubt, many of which you can find on Meanwhile, House Café Music, Apple Pips, Kann, a.r.t.less, Wandering, Liebe*Detail, Real Soon, Styrax Leaves, Essays, Freund Der Familie and especially Mojuba, where Weisemann’s music slots together with friends Nick Solé and Oracy to form a distinct, and highly collectible, label sound.

Several pseudonyms are in circulation.

Nightmares On Wax Boiler Room x Ballantine's Stay True Brazil DJ Set

Even though Robin Ordell has based himself in Berlin, he owes a lot to London's clubbing community for providing him a space to develop his craft as the resident DJ at local party collective Half Baked. Priding himself on sourcing sounds off the beaten track, Ordell's DJ sets draw on his early funk and jazz influences, mixing up the house template in a wholly fun and driving way. Plus, with productions coming on his close circle's record labels, he has been testing out some off kilter percussions of his own to good effect. With his next visit to EC1 slated for Saturday coming, we took the opportunity to secure a mix that demonstrates the rising DJ talent's aesthetic while we also tapped him up for a chat to get to know his influences and plans a little better.

After receiving widespread recognition for books like “How Does He Do It?” and “Glorious Misunderstandings,” Maurits Verwoerd decided to start a career as a music producer.

Though few doubted his skills as an artist, most of Maurits neighbours thought different about his compositions, causing him to start producing music in the underground dungeons of Amsterdam. Coming out occasionally, but only at night, slowly made him well known among friends and enemies as Nachtbraker (Dutch for night hawk).

The signs of exposure to a wide range of genres are clearly hearable in his music, ranging from ecstatic slow grooves to unconventional dub tracks. Critics often praise him for adopting a wide pallet of sounds and subtle, detailed percussion. While his celebrated performances receive increasing recognition, it’s unquestionable that Nachtbraker will keep a lot of people comfortably awake for the coming years.

Martin Landsky needs little introduction – his services to the cause of house and techno have been well documented, particularly through his long and fruitful collaboration with Steve Bug’s Poker Flat label. 

Always willing to take chances, Landsky continues this legacy with what might be the fiercest assault of the dancefloor of the year – get ready for Ekko Trax. 

This three track release sees Martin achieve something very special – a raw and honest tribute to the sounds that inspired him – namely the early days of Detroit and Chicago, before genres like house and techno had been defined and pigeon–holed.  

Each cut here is a creative interpretation of the tough, jacking rhythm trax popularized by originators like Ron Hardy at the Warehouse in the mid 80s – uncut machine funk made with one purpose in mind – delirious and ecstatic dancefloor movement. 

Even the titles reflect the stripped down vibe – these trax are purposefully rough-hewn and fully authentic – aggressive and euphoric slices of electronic body music that build their groove and melody out of swaths of deadly delay and echo. 

Showing it’s still possible to innovate with basic materials, 'ET1' and 'ET2' are equally irresistible – paired down to the essentials and shot through with a charged, raw energy. 

'Let It Snow' continues the theme – an acidic monster built on the sounds that shaped a generation. 

Each of these tracks has a timeless quality, managing to both pay their respects to the origins and keeping things moving forward at the same time. One thing’s for sure – Landsky’s Ekko Trax will be tearing up clubs from Berlin to Buenos Aires throughout 2013.

Mercyless is arguably one of my most successful release to date. Originally released on my 2008 album "Lost Together" on Om Records and featuring Wayne Tennant on vocals, it became an anthem in South Africa amongst other places, thanks to the Atjazz Remix, who crossed over so many genres and sat on the Traxsource Top 10 for months. 

Fast forward 7 years, and the track still gets love. Out of the blue, my good friend Atjazz sent me this new updated version he did to play in his set, an edit of his original remix. This takes an already legendary remix to another level. 

We are proud to be releasing this exclusive Remix on Lazy Days. Vinyl and Digital out.
