3 / 5 is a piece for one or more retuned guitars and open instrumentation. The guitar tuning is based on pythagorean (3-limit) and ptolemaic (5-limit) intervals. This version is for two guitars and piano. The guitar duo and the pianist alternates between playing chords and holding steady long notes using e-bows or (sine-waves). 

Duality for one or for many is a piece which takes two tuning forks tuned in the relation of 10 / 11 as a point of departure, sounding glissandi and stable spectral or beating pitches against the tuning forks. The piece alternates between textural sounds and pitch material and the duration is open.

Musician and sound artist from Riga, Latvia. Currently living in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Fredrik Rasten is a guitarist and composer (b. 1988) working in the field of experimental music, both improvised and composed. His main focuses are exploring and utilizing the acoustic possibilities of the steel string guitar. The last years he has been working extensively with just intonation, taking an extended concept of consonance as a point of departure. He has studied in this field with  Catherine Lamb and Marc Sabat in Berlin. In his work he is also inspired by wandelweiser music, traditional british folk and early music.
