The question should not be “Where are they from?”

The question should be:

“Where are they now?”

Young Echoes are determined to reclaim the true spirit of “independent music” and remove themselves from the watered down scene that has emerged on the back of energy drink sponsorships, mobile phone advertisements and corporate focus-group culture.

The band have ensconced themselves in their loft space in a former DDR Stasi administration building – creating from scratch their sound, vision and message with an improvised collection of modified equipment, stolen software and borrowed time. A dark, yet uplifting combination of guitar hooks, Bowie-tinged melodies, synths and psychedelic wig-outs, the band have crashed onto the scene in the last 18 months, and the scene is starting to take notice!

Young Echoes, much like their adopted home of Berlin, claim not to make statements – but to act as a reflector of the times in which they live. It is difficult to trust a band who seem so determined to confound and confuse: Or is it *we* that cannot be trusted, and this is their point? At once personal and bombastic – their dynamic live show has created a dedicated following in Berlin, and it seems only a matter of time before the rest of the world catches on.

Whatever the truth is, what is certain that with their direct sound, mischievous sense of humour, and incendiary live show – 2016 looks to be a big year for these boys from Berlin.
