These are immaculately crafted songs, delivered with smooth confidence arranged with plenty of instrumental grooving - and blissful, elongated heavy disco-funk, underground gospel disco, quirky grooves an underground jamz from back in the day. 

This sweat-soaked delightfully analogue and retro jazz-funk disco heaviness comes with upbeat, accessible tunes come with modern soul and lots of lovely frills.

So many of these are set to become classics it's pointless picking a favourite - A superb collection of timeless sounds.

Barry White - Gonna Love You (Pimpin Willie Groovestrumental Remix)

This is the first release from Freak Power since their 2019 EP 'United State'. It's a cover of Curtis Mayfield's classic 'Move on Up', reimagined in a very elegant and stylish new disco setting. Ashley had actually done a couple of other Curtis Mayfield covers late last year and a DJ friend asked him to do a version of Move On Up. At first he couldn't imagine doing it. For him, the original was all about the brass and the strings and the hectic rhythm and seemed impossible to cover. Then he knew he had to step back and look at the heart of the song and see it for what it was. A political song, a social commentary song and above all a soul song. The wonderful James Wiltshire (F9 Audio, Phats and Small, Freemasons) heard Ashley's mix and offered to 'improve' it, which he did. The record is a present and future classic and is destined to outlive its creator. As it should.
