Veronica Vasicka is a photographer, musician, DJ and founder of the epic record label and on-line music resource Minimal Wave. As one of the founding members of East Village Radio, she managed the station during its pirate days and began collecting obscure and long forgotten gems that fell somewhere between the Cold Wave, Post Punk and Minimal Synth genres.

Volcanic Tongue is overjoyed to present a career-spanning slew of exclusive unreleased tracks, out-takes and oddities from Richard Youngs, compiled by Neil Campbell from his legendary ‘suitcase’ archive. Featuring tracks specifically re-worked for VT by Richard, Neil’s Picks present a jaw-dropping overview of the breadth of the Youngs project. Particular moments of note include the appearance of his long-rumoured British Telecom commission for their Openline launch, 1979 (!) group recordings that vision The Shadow Ring play Public Image, an extract from his unreleased solo treated violin album, the beautiful “Harpenden Idyll”, appearances by Edward Youngs, Madeleine Hynes and Basque avantist Ricardo Ibarruri and a ton more. So dig in! Big thanks to both Neil and Richard for their realisation of what has been a long-term Volcanic Tongue dream.

If u are from San Francisco or you just passing by, check out RS94109 (https://www.facebook.com/rs94109onlarkin?fref=ts) cause they know their shit. One of the guys (Ossin)that run the store has a Reinforced Records tattoo (something that u rarely see in America) and he takes jungle out of the Special Dickquest big room mentality, giving it a shot of much needed punk attitude. The other guy (Skander) is the dark one. Let's say that if the image of scorched earth had a sound, his music would be that sound. If u don't work for Facebook or Twitter and u live in SF, just go there and pick up some nice wax. Until i get a gig in the States, i will have to listen to this mix and daydream.

My proposed show would aim to shine a light on independent/underground sounds from the past and present & from all corners of the globe, hopefully something akin to the old Peter Jesperson radio show (I've heard tapes), or programming you may hear on NTS radio or WFMU. Genre representation will likely skew more towards western rock music, but the goal is to incorporate not only several permutations of that idiom, but other sounds like jazz, reggae, folk, electronic, and many other sub-genres within.
