freesample ist ein online_label für elektronische musik. dabei beschränken wir uns nicht nur auf ein
bestimmtes genre, sondern suchen innovative künstler mit kreativem sound und stil, die unsere
attitüde teilen und mit uns zusammenarbeiten möchten. egal ob techno, drum‘n‘bass, dub etc.
wir releasen ausschließlich musik, die von herzen kommt und das gewisse etwas hat.

ausschlaggebend für die gründung von freesample waren die zunehmende kommerzialisierung von
partys und der nervig quälende einheitsbrei von elektronischer tanzmusik. dazu kommen künstlerkult
und ein publikum, dass für unbehagen sorgt. schimpfen ist zu einfach, lustig aber nicht unser ding,
machen ist besser.

sicherlich gibt es dazu keine patentlösung, doch wir versuchen, mit unseren aktionen gleichgesinnte zu
erreichen und eine community aufzubauen, die einfach nur spass macht und hat.

wir machen musik, wie wir sie selbst gern hören und veranstalten parties, wie wir sie selbst feiern
wollen, die es aber leider viel zu selten gibt. nicht gast sondern teil der community zu sein ist wichtig.
günstige getränke und speisen schaffen von vorn herein gleichberechtigung. keine
oder zumindest sehr niedrige eintrittpreise sind teil unseres konzeptes und es gibt musik die von herzen
kommt. all das, und das ist uns sehr wichtig, geschieht ohne gewinnerzielungsabsicht.

But we're not just stickin' to one special genre, we're looking
for innovative artist with a creative sound and style, who'd like
to coorporate with us. techno, drum'n'bass, dub etc., anyway we
don't mind. we only release music comin' straight from the heart
and having the certain something.



decisive for the founding of freesample was, that we felt parties
growing more and more commercial, in this case effecting the quality of electronic music negatively. in addition artist are somehow hovering above the crowds - celebrating more personality cult and less the party - and the audience makes you uncomfortable in numerous occasions.

but grumbling about these facts is too easy, funny, but not our
style.

actually there's no solution solving all of these problems, but
we're trying to find like-minded people supporting our actions,
to create a community having good mood and fun.

we use to play/produce music, we like to hear and stage parties
we like to celebrate, but which are too rare. important is not
to feel like a guest, but rather to be part of the community.
besides, cheap drinks, food and no (or low) admission charges
give you a feeling of equality and are therefor a firm part of
our concept. All this, an that's pretty important for us, happens
without any intention for benefit.

Born in Ontario, Canada and now based in Mexico, Alicia is a producer who captivates both ears and hearts with her diverse expressions of energy. Her music embodies the essence of a life dedicated to creation, dancing to, and drawing inspiration from music itself. Alicia's raison d’être is to be moved by music and to move others in return. 
Her live performances are an exhilarating blend of vibrant energy that stimulates both mind and body. From sweet and subtle beginnings to a whirlwind of heavy basslines, playful vocals, and quirky melodies, Alicia's music takes listeners on a journey from deep introspection to carefree elation, united by its ability to stir the soul.
Since 2012, Alicia has been a fixture on Montreal's dance floors, making regular appearances at renowned events such as MUTEK, Piknic Electronik, and Igloofest. Her dynamic and heartfelt live sets have also graced stages across the globe, from Berlin's iconic venues like Tresor and Club der Visionäre, to festivals such as Festival Internacional de Santa Lucía in Monterrey, Mexico, Transart Festival in Bolzano, Italy, and the Roatan Electronic Experience Festival in Honduras.  
In 2022 Alicia created music for Montreal’s Oasis Immersion exhibit at The Palais des congrès de Montréal.  In 2023 Alicia completed residencies at Montreal’s Maison de la culture Janine-Sutto and Maison de la culture Notre-Dame-de-Grâce – Botrel where she collaborated in a unique audience participatory audio/visual performance.  Recently, under her new alias Felicia Lush, Alicia has brought her experimental trip-hop blend to Montreal’s MUTEK Festival and Centre PHI. She has also collaborated on mesmerizing audio-visual performances with some of Montreal’s top visual artists, including Elysha Poirier and Sasha Vreca (Ionsea), enriching her creative journey. In 2014, Alicia launched the Hushlamb Label Project in Montreal, a testament to her commitment to fostering innovative musical talent alongside Sarah Lamb.

There are two things that unite the people: love and music. Lucky one who knows how to connect these elements and lucky for us that he became a DJ. And this is how his space shuttle reached Earth in the last decade (some people say it even came from Venus). With lots of devotion the Commander seeks out the most beautiful sang and spoken words dressed in their loveliest instrumental dresses for us. And as you know neither music nor love distinguish between colors the messiahs of love is not fixed on his musical roots as a founder of the legendary electro group Kombinat 100. That is how we can listen to a sweet repertoire of Folk, Country, Reggae, 80ies, Hip Hop, Pop and Acoustic sophisticated with special and far away imported cover-versions. So it is no surprise that hearts break open and dance floors, car radios, internet streams and couches turn into a place of salvation and satisfaction.

Dave Aju is an internationally-recognized DJ, producer, remixer, sound engineer, vocalist and artist known for his distinctive voice and unique blend of musical styles. Born Marc David Barrite and raised by a respected Cali Jazz-head father, an early peer of Pharaoh Sanders, he soon became an avid young B-Boy and MC in the local Electro and Hip-Hop scenes before eventually finding his niche in the deeper left-field corners of mid-90s Detroit Techno and the global underground House Music movement, channeling all of the above influences into his retro-futuristic DJ sets and productions with a natural passion for dance music history, his Filipino/Ute Indian cultural rhythmic roots, and psychedelic-inspired sonic ingenuity into a raw handmade sound truly all his own.

An expansive discography which garners regular support from musical mentors-turned-fans such as Claude Young, Theo Parrish, DJ QU and Pepe Bradock includes his recently released fifth studio album Glossolalia with The Invisible Art Trio, the homecoming LP TXLAX and the follow-up Ciao Sun EP on Tokyo’s renown Mule Musiq, three previous award-nominated concept albums on Parisian outlet Circus Company, coveted remixes for select elite acts from Nicolas Jaar to STR4TA, celebrated EP releases for labels such as Ostgut Ton, Music For Freaks, and Matthew Herbert's Accidental Records, along with a deep history of notable headlining performances at globally-revered venues from London’s Fabric and Berlin’s Panorama Bar to the Sonar and MUTEK festivals, as well as regular contributions to tastemaker radio platforms like Dublab and Gilles Peterson's BBC shows. Dave Aju now finds himself in a well-accomplished creative zone at home in Los Angeles. Forever a fixture in his legendary studio developing next-level material, repping West Coast warehouse roots events with the DISCOS XXX aka DX3 crew, promoting culture connection truths with the LAXD series, penning lyrics and dropping soulful vocals for the exploratory band KAMM, while steadily mix engineering and working behind the scenes in support of a variety of LA projects, teaching production courses to future generations at Hollywood’s esteemed Musicians Institute, dropping DJ set science from his vast record collection, while running the Greasy Listening mix series that promotes new like-minded works that check the mind, body, soul boxes, and his home-base artist imprint Elbow Grease.

Public Lover is Bruno Pronsato and Ninca Leece, two artists making some of Berlin's most personal electronic music. Each half of the duo is distinctive on its own: Bruno is an idiosyncratic techno artist with nearly a dozen records under his belt, and Ninca Leece is a French singer and producer who debuted in 2010, with a full-length album and the acclaimed Feed Me Rainbows EP on Bruno's label, thesongsays. Together they make music that, stylistically, shares something with peers like Isolee or Thomas Melchior, but in spirit reflects a different set of influences: Blonde Redhead, Matthew Herbert, Bon Iver, Roxy Music et al. It's this synthesis that makes Public Lover so irresistibly compelling: electronic production with a songwriter's sense of sincerity.

The group began in 2010 as a side project. Ninca Leece had just finished her debut album and was working on her live act––a lush audio-visual affair led by her own endearing vocals. Bruno was wrapping up his third full-length, an album Pitchfork would later call "a striking, massive statement" that "aligns Pronsato with artists like Terre Thaemlitz and Theo Parrish." As they collaborated more and more, an interesting chemistry emerged: Bruno's trademark production style––a warm and surreal sound he once described as "romantic techno"––gave Ninca Leece a rich foundation, while her ear for melody and her French-accented vocals brought his productions to life. They started rehearsing constantly at their flat in Prenzlauer Berg, reworking each song again and again until it reached maturity. That fall they released their debut EP, Musique D'Hiver Pour L' Été, on thesongsays, and quickly followed it with Naked Figures on Telegraph. Their style immediately struck a chord, with their song "I Try" landing in Resident Advisor's top tracks of the year.

Meanwhile, Public Lover designed their live act, which, like their records, ignores the conventions of club culture in favor of something more performance-oriented. With both artists at the controls–-one laptop, a drum machine, keyboards and a microphone––they weave through loose interpretations of their own songs, with Ninca Leece on lead vocals all the while. It's an act that works best in small clubs or even galleries, but that's easily adjusted to bigger venues. Not six months after their first release, the duo had played live around the world, from Warehouse 702 in Tokyo to MUTEK festival in Montreal. 

All the glowing feedback they received, combined with their own absorption in the project, made a Public Lover album inevitable. A Broken Shape of You was released on the 31st of January 2012, and put the full range of their strengths on display: lyrically seductive, texturally vivid and as sophisticated in melody as it is in rhythm. Playful, mysterious and romantic, it makes Public Lover the most alluring new act in electronic music.
