Following an unsettling, extended period of music left unwritten, unfinished or undeveloped, this piece was its culmination, nearly three years sporadically in the making. An earlier, melodic flute part was taken over by portions of the acoustic piano, upright string bass and electric guitar parts in this arrangement. Although conceived as an ensemble work, there is also a solo piano rendition. (Among its projects, the piece is the namesake for writer-actor Kathryn Sanders’ play, in which it was featured alongside other instrumental works of mine.)

Things Left Unsaid

I write and sing from the edge—between here and evermore.
Raised by a poet mother and a storyteller father, I’ve worn many coats: short-order cook, ditch digger, celebrity driver, wedding band frontman, tile man, interior designer, and lifelong student of the sacred and strange.

I’ve learned from mystic vagabonds, warrior women, and captains of industry—each one a chapter in this kaleidoscope life.
