In March of this year we saw Jimpster’s Porchlight And Rocking Chairs LP fall on expectant and eager ears, winning praise from the likes of RA, DJ Mag and Groove as well as plays and support from a host of the worlds best radio and club DJ’s. With the majority of the LP being more home listening than club-focused we decided to call in some of our favorite producers to rework a track of their choice for the dance-floors and here we present you the first part of the amazing results.

KiNK needs little introduction of course, except to say that his live set as well as his hands on hardware approach in the studio has seen him become established as one of the most exciting producers of the last couple of years. When he agreed to remix Porchlight And Rocking Chairs (a track he incidentally referred to as his favorite of the year!) we couldn’t have been happier and knew that something very special would come from it. When he got in touch to say he’d done a version but explained it was done live in one take with all the parts being tweaked in real time making it very hard to change anything we were even more intrigued and excited. As expected, what he delivered is an intense, high energy reworking full of piercing high’s and rattling lows, keeping the original chords and many of the keyboard lines in place but injecting a raw drive and improvised feel which has already seen it become a highlight of Jimpster sets this summer.

Andre Lodemann provides the perfect antidote to KiNK’s frenetic version in the form of his Towards The Seer Remix, going for a tight, emotive, late night groove which develops slowly, teasing out the arrangement and keeping things sublime and understated. Subtle bass twists and dubbed out FX build to the extended break where we’re introduced to the original’s acoustic bass riff in all it’s glory. Another brilliant Andre Lodemann production.

Quickly following up the last, instant sell-out smash, Shir Khan's infamous "Black Jukebox" series hit us with the 12th edition. Introducing anonymous project Aussteiger who gets things bouncing with the Summer house monster, "Bangbao". Lush filter sweeps, twinkling keys and powerful bass are order of the day here as the producer works his magic on one of the sunniest grooves we've heard this year. "Return" keeps that outdoor terrace flavour but plunges us deep into the twilight, tribal drums and deep electronics locking us into its hypnotic recess. Martin Lewis contributes a seriously fun and summery version of "Now That We Found Love", utilizing glorious xylophones and horns throughout the melody and letting it roll out with aplomb. Finally, we get the cheeky "Do It" edit which combines hypnotic congas with funky guitar licks and a sun-burnt, Latin energy to create a sizzling brew of hot dancefloor energy. Great stuff! "Houses in Motion" is a new australian label based in Melbourne and they drop their first compilation EP featuring a range of tracks from label friends new and forever. A. M. Limonata returns with "Siren", an atmospheric, crisp track, reminiscent of days spent sun-drenched on dancefloors. Roy Blues makes his debut on HIM with "Pyramid" premiered here, a euphoric slow burner . On the flip, daddy boy Oliver Francis takes the limelight with "How High", a funky, crunchy beast that will take you for a ride through space and time. The inappropriately named closer "Setting Pace", another by Oliver, rounds out the record; a bright yet melancholy disco track featuring reverbial guitars of the mysterious Deep Zoo.

PREMIERE : Roy Blues - Pyramid

The French tastemakers over at Delicieuse Musique have been busy compiling their first in a series of VA releases. Liquors No.1, a smorgasbord of deep club tracks is due to hit the shelves in mid February and will be also available on vinyl.

We’ve got the exclusive on Jesper Ryom’s contribution ‘Pacer’. Throughout its seven minute duration, it morphs into a beautiful sunrise track, comprised of piano melodies and an undulating bass riff. If there’s one track that you listen to today, make it this.
