Our last installment of the Local Selector Series for the year is from Kopi O. Having recently moved from Aberdeen to Glasgow to begin a role teaching composition and piano at Glasgow School of Music, Kopi O has been making a solid name for herself in the local scene by supporting the likes of Mell G at Plant Bass’d, LF System at the SWG3 after party as well as Franc for Industrial Estate. 

Kopi O is also 1/3 of Glasgow collective PowerPot which is a label & creative collective for LGBTQIA+ artists and women in the harder dance music. They've done this by having multiple parties in La Cheetah and the Poetry Club along side their mix series.

Local Selector Series 19 - KOPI O

"Volk", named after the song with the same name by Thom Yorke (OST of Suspiria, 2018), starts from a melody that is constantly repeating itself with slight variations. It is accompanied by a delirious composition and a strong, surreal and intriguing spirit. It is a track with an aura that collects nuances of Trance and takes inspiration from the atmosphere generated on the dance floor.

BC-A, short for Barbara Caroline Alt, is a techno DJ based in Innsbruck. Her obsession for fast-paced electronic music has been growing steadily since her early teen years and ultimately resulted in her playing her first DJ set in 2017. Teaming up with FUAD for their side project night:service and joining the multi-genre collective INSEMINOID in 2020 has allowed for her to explore new styles across the spectrum of techno, merging hard grooves with sprinkles of broken beats, hardcore and gabber. Firmly opposing the prevalent gendered power relations in the nightlife environment, BC-A has recently joined the core team of push – female DJ network and is also one of the founders of EAT, a feminist DJ network based in Innsbruck, with the shared aim to work towards a more equal and diverse scene by raising awareness as well as platforming and empowering FLINTA* DJs.
