The DifferentSound Podcast #280 welcomes ANNĒ! Annē, a rising talent from Greece, is dedicated to honing her craft as a DJ and composer. Hailing from Thessaloniki, she embodies the vibrant music scene of her country, infusing her sets with powerful dynamics that seamlessly connect with the audience. Drawing inspiration from Detroit, 90s, and 00s sounds, incorporating vocals and a pumping beat, her music productions reflect her inner emotions. Now she worthily represents the techno scene in her country, touring all over the world, in notable projects & clubs like Berghain, RSO, Fuse, Radion, Fold, E1, Exhale just to name a few. Her sets are powerful & pumping with never ending dynamics, focused on the perfect interaction with the crowd. With strong and very successful releases, on Ben Sim’s historic imprint Hardgroove & his second label Symbolism, on NECHTO, Soma, Mutual Rytm, Life in Patterns, Out of Place records etc she made a bigger step to the music scene while her music has gained massive and diverse support, from artists all over the world charting and playing her tracks very often. Her future though seems brighter, with new collaborations as long as many releases later this year. For 2024 she has already signed to Nastia's label Nechto Records, Soma records, Mutual Rytm & FJAAK's new label CROWD and many more! Cast off, trip out, elevate.

France’s proliferation of techno talent is hard to contest these days, but Mathys Lenne’s here in case you had any doubts. The DJ/producer also goes by The Scan, and makes up half of Classic Blue, pushing forward a steely vision of the genre that’s both shrewd and quick as a whippet. Alongside projects on HAYES, his beats have shown up too as vinyl EP on Blue Hour’s eponymous record label as well as a debut LP on Dutch powerhouse MORD (2023). It’s a hard hitting genus of techno that borrows from the layered and cognitive approach employed by forebears Efdemin and Float Records label boss TWR72. He’s been busy, and found a powerful voice he spends night after night bringing to dancefloors and headphones alike. For Bassiani Podcast 206, the francophone techno envoy weaves a complex mesh of warped kicks that doesn’t let up for a second, a building tension only someone with faculties as sharp as his could successfully maintain. If this is the first time you’ve heard his name you’d be wise to take note, with an ear like his, little can stop him.

His interpretation of the genre is made through a clinical approach, blending the soul of the genre with a modern and unorthodox methodology. With the rare ability to absorb and express different moods keeping the same signature sound, he manages to have the seal of a wide spectrum of labels like Klockworks, Blueprint, Soma or Warm Up - whose work speaks for itself.

As a DJ the sharp vision remains, delivering a fast paced eclectic journey with music from different time frames mixed in an coherent and elegant way. He’s one of the minds behind Hayes and runs his own Mastering Studio.

Berlin-based Inox Traxx is quickly gaining attention as a DJ and producer. Her first release on Overbalance in 2019 showcased her distinct sound, often including dark choir-like vocals over icy synths, all following a minimalistic, hard hitting groove. On her Indicators EP released last year, she uses many of the same elements, but also created a more hypnotic feel with bleeping modular sounds that slowly oscillate in and out.

As a DJ, she plays in line of her own productions, favoring minimalistic hard hitting kick drums, dystopian vocals and minimalistic percussion patterns. In this mix, she only showcases her own productions.

The DifferentSound Podcast #291 welcomes Nicolas Vogler! Nicolas Vogler is a Brazilian techno DJ, producer & mastering engineer. Strongly inspired by the dirty and energetic sound of the 90s, Brazilian-based artist Nicolas Vogler began his music career by DJing at underground events in his home country, developing over the years an extensive collection of tracks that reflect his keen research and unique musical identity. Through his typical funky, fast, and introspective sound, Nicolas started releasing his tracks through his own personal label NCLS which quickly gained notoriety and attracted support from renowned DJs worldwide. Today, Nicolas has a discography that revolves around just over 150 tracks, 30 albums, and 50 mixtapes signed on notorious labels and collectives of the global techno scene, such as Mutual Rytm, Planet Rhythm, Suara, Syxt Berlin, Malör Records, Orphic Amsterdam, Frenzy and Reclaim Your City.
