Goldrush DJ Competition 2025

Paze Zetalla a Finnish guitarist born in 1987 started noodling around  the six string over twenty years ago. He comes from artistic family and as the oldest of the offspring mainly focused on music while the younger sisters inspired on visual arts as well.  

His first instrument was an acoustic guitar but the real lighting struck on his consciousness when he saw Children of Bodom playing live in his hometown. The promise he made himself was that ”he will excercise the electric guitar as long as he can play everything he wants to learn." A childish dream that pushed him to obsession and relentless excercise. That young boy´s dream was to build a studio one day to record his own music and play all the instruments by himself. That goal was achieved twenty years later.      

During his early adulthood he played in various projects varying from rock and party cover bands to black metal. Even though he focused on guitar prone music he was always keen about exploring new instruments and musical influences. Enthusiam grew over the genres and little by little trance and techno lurked in to his playlists. First progressive/vocal trance, later psytrance and techno. Techno can be blamed on Boris Brejcha and his pumping basslines. 

Nowadays Paze is still a music addict. There is not a single day without playing, listening or producing music. The main goal is to make something twisted and different, to mix different styles and bring electric guitar as a quest star in EDM music.

NBC9 released his second full-length album State of Control on September 19, 2025, a record that defines his cinematic, bass-driven take on drum and bass. The album follows his 2024 return and marks a key milestone in a journey that has reestablished him as a progressive force in the genre. This December, he will deliver Fragments 2.0, a remix album expanding on the original Fragments project that featured Exile, Yasuki, Xtinctor, Lunatronic, AGRO, Irontype, and JRace & Albert White. That project brought international attention and wide DJ support, with each artist reshaping NBC9’s sound through styles ranging from deep rollers to heavy neuro.

As the head of Embassy 9 Recordings, NBC9 has created a home for his own output as well as a space for collaborators to explore forward-thinking drum and bass. His productions are designed with a dual purpose: to resonate in personal listening settings and to hit with power on dancefloors.

Before his return to drum and bass, NBC9 built an underground reputation under the name Influenza in the early 2000s nu skool breakbeat scene. Releases on Pure Funk, Illeven Eleven, Sponge, and Epidemic reached audiences across North America and the UK, with his music played in iconic venues such as Fabric London.

Two decades on, NBC9 stands with more clarity and intent than ever, blending experience with innovation to drive a sound that continues to evolve.
