Mauricio Barembuem (aka Barem) perfectly personifies the breed of electronic musicians who has grown up in the digital age, using intuitive software to spontaneously express ideas and emotions. Online distribution has also made it possible for them to reach out and connect with audiences across the globe, no matter where they are – Buenos Aires for example, where Barem grew up amid the hustle and bustle of a city on the edge.

It represents the future, the past, good taste, stylish sounds, the underground, afterhours… Whatever native roots you have, whatever music you like or liked before, it all fits in there and year after year I keep rediscovering how free and amazing the concept and the reasons behind it are…’’

After an extensive period of touring with DJ performances at some of the biggest events around like the Detroit Movement Festival, Mutek Montreal, Timewarp Mannheim, Miami’s WMC, ADE, Ibiza’s Monza, Cocoon, ENTER., Ushuaia… not to mention 2009’s Contakt special at Brixton Academy and the Minus North American bus tour, Barem built an extensive catalog of remixes between trips under a very wide range of labels. That all changed in 2011 with the release of his debut album ‘After The Storm’, which had an incredible reception from both media and fans, and also marked the return of his Live sets for a limited period of time. 
2015 saw him depart from his beloved Minus to find new challenges and open up the spectrum, with releases on Sci+Tec, Rhythm Cult and again, several remixes. Having a new horizon in front, he teamed up with his friend and music partner Alexis Cabrera to form their own Fun Records label.

When we first started our Mixtape Series, little did we think that we would continue onto 50 Episodes, never mind recruit some of the best talent around to be part of it. The series has certainly evolved beautifully and it must be said that it's a true honour to have some of our biggest heroes and selectors joining us too. For our 50th Episode we have a very special interview and guest mix for you. We welcome the incredible and amazing Steve Bug.

His relentless commitment to quality - both in his own work and in the many producers he has championed - has made him one of the world’s most revered artists and curators, and along with his labels Poker Flat, Sublease Music, Audiomatique, Dessous Recordings, Traffic Signs or Raw Elements, has made a sizeable contribution to building the European house and techno scene as we know it. Here is the part 3.30am-9.30am of my 9 hours set at Watergate, which has been Berlin DJ-home since 2012. This recording was my last long set in the club before it's closing. It was very emotional, i played my favorites and towards the end a lot of classics, but these last hours remain between the people who where there:) The last track i added to this recording was the closing track around noon "2000". Thanks to Watergate for unforgettable times!

The flow of time leaves inescapable tracks to which belong different meanings, while memories fade as the sands continue their relentless march forward. The only thing in our power is to enjoy what has given us, choosing the best soundtrack for our lives. And thats precisely what Cristina Lazics new release is all about, as she returns to her throne after a few months hiatus with Watch The Time EP, which also includes two remixes by LondonGround and Simes. For LAZIC015, she embraces all her vibrant energy, providing two originals - one together with ABEL - that feature rubbery basslines, acid licks, spacey synths, and skippy grooves. On the remix duties, Argentinian top-producer LondonGround (elrow, SIGHT) takes things to the next level with an incredible take, crafting a bold, hypnotic version built for both the dancefloor and the afters. Closing with the Simes (DESOLAT, Tamango Records) remix, the rising German talent goes towards deeper lands by adding vibrant pads and an irresistible late-night feel. With these sounds, its easy to lose track of time.
