Sam's been crushing it - touring all over the country, putting out releases on UMEK's 1605 record label, and has his own music festival coming up later this month. Despite all that, he's still been kind enough to take time out of his busy schedule to support this channel with a mix and interview. ◾Real Name: Sam Wolfe

◾How did you come up with your dj name: I used a ton of aliases throughout my early career and then realized I have a perfectly good name to DJ with..... it was almost like how we don't like to hear our own voices on a recording... growing into your own skin and being comfortable with yourself takes time but is something you need to do if you're going to mature and develop as an artist

◾When did you start djing: I downloaded ableton back in 2010 before I ever started DJing and used that to make live mixes... so although it's true I've only been producing for 2 years I tell people I've been on this journey for since 2010 because I spent 9 years telling myself lame excuses why I could never become a music producer.. that's a mental battle all young artists have to overcome

◾Favorite dj moment: I have many many favorite DJ moments, but probably the most impactful was my first festival at Imagine fest in 2019, even though I just played the silent disco... that was my first time on a stage with 1000 people in front of me. And once I got bit by that bug it really inspired me to step on the gas and go all in on production

◾Favorite genre/subgenre to spin: obviously I love techno, but I really love progressive house, so I'll still spin all the time in Atlanta doing progressive house, & my last release "Reservoir" on Purified was a really cool experience putting out a record that isn't techno.... I won't be doing that again for a long time as I've signed exclusively with Umek and 1605, so will be putting out hard hitting techno for the foreseeable future growing with the label

◾Favorite artists: Eric Prydz, Boris Brejcha, Porter Robinson... and my reason for that is I love how their sets mostly consist of all of their own original music.... they aim to take their listeners on a journey, producing and playing the music that they want to make so I only have the utmost respect for those guys

◾Favorite labels: I am really feeling what Umek is cultivating with 1605--- that's why I am going all in and looking to develop my own unique take on techno and establish it with his label, hopefully can do something unique and different and am very grateful for all of the support early on the Southeast techno scene has given me ❤

◾Real Name: Greg Cordo

◾Current city: Charlotte, NC

◾How did you come up with your dj name: I took my first initial and my last name (minus the last letter) and stitched them together in a low effort musical pun.

◾When did you start djing: I got my start in 2010 running lights and music for private parties. I like to think that I was crate digging from 2012 until 2019. That's when I finally picked up Serato and a little two channel controller and began teaching myself the art of mixing songs together in a seamless set to tell a story. So I've really been DJing for about two and a half years.

◾Favorite dj moment: It's hard to pick a single moment, but one that comes to mind is playing on a big sound system for the first time in Miami at Love Burn 2019. I just remember the drop from Vocal Chords by Claude VonStroke hitting so perfectly, the melody feeling so full and crisp.

◾Favorite genre/subgenre to spin: I prefer the deeper sides of house and techno, though I have a particular fondness for worldly downtempo grooves.

◾Favorite artists: Nine Inch Nails, Muse, and The Faint are probably my top three. I've listened to them since middle school, but I don't play their music in my DJ sets. These are some of my favorite artists whose music I do play: Dennis Cruz, Max Chapman, Oliver Koletzki, Jesse Perez, Green Velvet, Four Tet, Elijah Nang, Walker & Royce, Gene Farris, Gavinco, Bellaire, Gentle Fred, Claude VonStroke, Gorgon City, Cut Snake, Makebo, Kermesse, Enzo Siffredi, Kora, Be Svendsen, Bedran., LondonGround, Kyle Watson, Mike Schommer, Rene Amesz, Moomin, Leftwing:Kody, Neverdogs, Vitor Munhoz, Interplanetary Criminal, Stereo Express.

◾Favorite labels: I tend to focus more on artists, but a few labels that I've been digging are Aathee, All Day I Dream, AOC Records, Budenzauber, Chillhop Records, Crosstown Rebels, Saisons, and SP Recordings
