September 2021 - Full "Harvest" Moon 

Tonight is The Full Harvest Moon. It is called the Harvest Moon because at the end of September crops that were seeded in Spring are now ready to be harvested. 

This is truly a time of transformation, and the Earth is going through a major shift as it heads into Autumn. We are also each going through a major changes in our lives as the Earth's energy projects onto us. We can utilize these moments of transformation - IN THE DANCE & THE MUSIC - to become what we feel we need to be in order to adapt and find comfort in the upheaval. Pisces will make us feel a little braver and stronger, we may find that we have the courage to do things we were afraid to do in the past. Let us not be limited by our five senses perceptions. Let us simply live, and BE EMBODIED from a place of possibility and alchemy.

Frequency Underground resident, Wilcot, out of Greenville, SC revisits us for the 44th episode of the series in what is perhaps the dubbiest journey yet! The set is incredibly vibey, with an array of emotions swelling from dynamic synths, soft pads, and an underlying groovy house feel.

We’ve had over 80 different djs from all over the southeast, record over 120 hours of music for our fans who played our tracks over 11,000 times! Never in our wildest dreams did we think the show would become what it is today, so once again thank you all 💜💜💜

INTERVIEW WITH SWITCH:

◾Name: Richard Wootton

◾Current city: Charleston, SC

◾How and when did you get into djing: 
I actually first got into DJ'ing at a house party you (Wilcot) threw when we first met in December 2018 and you had just purchased the DDJ-1000. I watched you mix a few tracks and when you asked if I wanted to take a stab at it I jumped right in. The rest is history!

◾Who are your musical influences and what is your inspiration: 
I draw inspiration from the audiences I play for. Looking into a crowded room or even a sparse one and seeing people giving their mind, body, and spirit up to the power of music is an incredible thing. All of life's struggles and worries melt away when the music hits your soul just right. 
Some artists that really speak to me as an artist are Malaa, Marten Hörger, Masteria, Cashew, Cloverdale, and Matroda.

◾Describe your sound as a DJ:
I like to dive into all variations of House music, but undoubtedly my love and passion for mixing lies in Bass and Ghetto House. The pounding 4/4's alongside brain-melting sub-bass is enough to get anyone moving, and that's what I live for!

◾What does the future hold in store for you as an artist? After a recent move to the Charleston area from Greenville, I'm just trying to respect the scene and show love where I can. If regular shows and bookings come in time, that's great, but for now I'm really just waiting and watching until it's my turn lay it down for the people once more. Also, we've got a HUGE announcement for a big show coming up on February 5th, so keep an eye out for that!

INTERVIEW WITH WILCOT:

◾Name: Will Cothran

◾Current city: Greenville, SC

◾How and when did you get into djing: I got my first taste of electronic music back in 2010 at Bonnarroo with mainstream acts like Deadmau5, Bassnectar, and Pretty Lights. From there it would be another few years until I got to experience my first true underground show put on by Rethink Techno in an abandoned warehouse off Rutherford Rd. It was sketchy, felt illegal, the music had a totally different vibe to it…it was all the things a music festival or concert wasn’t…and I was hooked! From there it took me another couple years to realize that getting the gear to dj didn’t have to cost thousands of dollars and I bought my first controller, a pioneer SB-3, in 2018. Shortly after that I got to know Preston Edwards and took Avenue, Switch, and myself under his wing and helped teach us all how dj. Soon after that we formed what is now Frequency Underground and the rest is history 

◾Describe your sound as a DJ: That’s a tough question to answer for me…I feel like my sound is constantly morphing and evolving but right now I’m really into the genre blurring sounds of labels like scuffed, holding hands, and fantastic voyage…it’s house, it’s techno, breaks, jungle, and more all rolled into a weird groovy package. 

◾What does the future hold in store for you as an artist: I’m really excited to see where the future takes me and Frequency Underground. I never would have imagined I’d be where I am today so I’m really excited to see where things will be in another year or two. We’re working on pinning down a few venues so we can more regularly host events….I can’t wait to share more on that. I’ve started playing around with the visual side of the craft as well, buying a dmx controller, playing with computer visuals, and getting a subscription to canva. I’m really excited to start exploring these creative outlets in addition to djing.

BIO:
A versatile house and techno DJ, Wilcot enjoys spinning laid back, smooth and groovy minimal just as much as he does dark and heavy high BPM techno. Experimentation and exploration are at the core of Wilcot’s style. Unafraid to seek out new sounds, styles, and genres Wilcot is always looking for new ways to get weird and groovy.

As a co-founder of Frequency Underground in Greenville and curator of the Collective’s weekly radio show, Wilcot and the rest of the Collective have been working hard to grow the local scene, forging alliances and creating bonds throughout the region.
