FREQUENCY UNDERGROUND INTERVIEW WITH DOMAVIK:

Real Name: Alex Everett

Current city: Atlanta

How did you come up with your dj name: The name is rooted in my Slavic ancestry and is based on a house spirit of a given kin who has a wild sense of mischief. Being a music producer, I tend to spend a lot of my free time at home in the studio, and in addition to my mantra of not taking life too seriously, I thought this name suited me well.

How and when did you get into djing: My curiosity in DJing came along with wanting to independently record and perform music without having to rely on additional musicians. Discovering underground electronic music while in college, I gravitated towards house, trance, and psybient genres, and after attending my first rave, I’ve embarked on a journey of practicing endless hours mixing in my bedroom. Eventually I’ve got good enough to land gigs at the local bars, college parties, and weddings. 

Who are your musical influences and what is your inspiration: I find inspiration in history, films, and nature. Some of my influences are: Be Svendsen, Simon Posford, and The Grateful Dead. 

Describe your sound as a DJ: I have an improvisational approach to my sets and I try to focus on telling a story with the music that I carefully select to represent me. My perfect set recipe would include lots of percussion, groovy basslines, mixture of organic and synthesized instruments, seasoning of world sounds and a dash of melancholy. 

What does the future hold in store for you as an artist: I am currently working on my first EP, and I’m preparing to attend my 6th Alchemy burn this October in LaFayette, Georgia where I’ll be playing at multiple sound camps.

This week we're thrilled to have one of the top regional artists and visionaries on the show - Silent Duality. A true master at curating a vibe, both with his music and Dimensions of Being events, we were fortunate enough to have him perform at our  Soniq Oasis festival we co-produced with Synth Etiquette Radio this summer. We were equally fortunate to have been recording and captured his 4am set from the weekend and are pleased to now present it for Episode 133 of Frequency Underground! Enjoy!

◾How did you come up with your dj name: Silent Duality emerged from studying the underlying architecture of the universe.  

◾How and when did you get into djing: After producing music for a few years, I realized I needed a way to showcase it, so I began DJing 8 years ago. 

◾Who are your musical influences and what is your inspiration: 
Musical Influences range from  Pink Floyd, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, to Beethoven and Chopin to Deep Dish, Audiofly, Tale of Us, Acid Pauli and so many more. 

I’m deeply inspired by the processes of Nature and science. 

◾Describe your sound as a DJ: I’ve always had a hard time pin pointing this answer. It’s definitely rooted in House and Techno. But recently someone told me, Tribal Psychedelic Minimal Tech. I like it haha. 

◾What does the future hold in store for you as an artist:
I’m seeking to influence the philosophy of music through my art. Elevate to higher forms, the way we consume and understand music.

Lenz is an electronic duo formed by Irish DJ & producer (DJ Joma) and German vocalist, songwriter (Moon Aton). Working together since 2020, they have enjoyed several successful releases to date on labels such as Colour & Pitch, Personal Belongings, 3Bridge Records, Nordic Voyage Recordings, M-Sol Records, Suprematic Recordings, Nicksher Music and Be Adult Music (Ibiza). With a string of releases already scheduled for 2022, it promises to be a bright future for Lenz.

Their monthly 'Night Whisper' Podcast show seemed like the natural progression of what they have been doing, and thanks to the help of radio stations like Pure Ibiza Radio, Ibiza Global Radio, Bloop Radio London, Boogie Bunker Radio (Tenerife), Estacion Ibiza Radio, Data Transmission Radio, Radio Zoom (Berlin), Graffiti Kings (London) and Like That Underground (Germany), it has developed brilliantly, and helped bring the Lenz sound to all corners of the world.
