kamẹra has been @renata-sabella 's alter moniker since she started delving into the side-pits of a large umbrella going from breakbeat to grime, footwork, trap and the sort. Standing for "chameleon" in Yoruba, the alias pretty much describes what it is that is driving the blustery beats we are used to from Renata, into an indulgent surplus of syncopation and rhythmic exploration. 

Here she is with another master beat-bending session, recorded at the latest Grime and Punishment at the Warehouse a little while ago.

Mainly concerned with nondeterministic approaches to electronic music with their debut Lattices, this set comes more as a reflection of their rave nostalgia. Garage, acid and breakbeats as free lunch, all swirling around specific techniques that have been nurtured through their improvised performances.

revelling in the absurdity we’re living in, a reminder to laugh in -whatever it is-’ face when it boils down to it

a sort of historic overview, a non-linear timeline going through early new beat and late 80s-early 90s gems with mentions of early trance and techno, along with new releases that seem to be inspired by that approach to music and life in general, debauching hard at points

a long ride through a steady stream of lush and luscious goodies gathered over the years, with some that also seem to resonate on a socio-political level, ironically standing true today as much as ever

@elvin-brandhi-1  charges in with full force with a live set during Frequent Defect: Readapted Means, making auto-tune blast beats and a carefully constructed ambiance embodying the idea of evil earth. 

Gritty hope, she refers to it, and it’s the idea of recognizing pain, both collective and individual, and resisting the idea of capitalism’s push of positive energy of progression. This is not your average club set, this one, performed in Beirut the heat of the uprising, provided the crowd with the perfect balance of sensory stimuli and tension release.

Using guitar, guembri and karakeb (both ritual instruments from Gnawas), a Roland synth and multiple effect pedals, multidisciplinary artist Nadia Daou as NAR foleys what sounds like a plethora of colorful eastern samples interrupted by abrasive segments, soundtracking a bleak golden hour. The set sways heavily through fields of sonic emotion, and her enchanting vocals – at times composed of Arabic poetry sung in a tribal tone and at others exclaimed like a march anthem – gently emerging and disappearing like vapor
