July 1st 1863 (officially 1873) is when slavery was abolished in Surinam. A day where freedom of our ancestors was finally realized. Those who have suffered so much for us to live free now. 

Freedom and peace is something we kindly consider normal but even now in 2022 we have modern slavery of the uyguhrs in China. Thousands of migrant workers dead in Qatar for the world championship of football, Palestina who suffer from apartheid until this day and war in Ukraine which all of a sudden came really close. 

Freedom is something we are blessed with. We should not take this for granted and enjoy life as much as possible. Be kind and good to people around you, it might be a small thing for you to do but it can mean SO MUCH for others.

It's not easy to describe this special session by this special artist and friend. For us, he is the master of beats in the region. He takes his sounds, cuts them to very small pieces, lines them up on his synthesizers to create a unique strong sound we have never heard before. 
 
Muqata'a is one of the founders of the Ramallah Underground hip-hop group, and the one who sparked a whole new generation of artists in the region.
We cannot talk about Muqata'a in a few lines, and that's why we decided to publish an in-depth interview with him on our new Recordat platform which will be up soon.
