ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

CUT CAPERS are a 9-piece Bristol band whose energetic live performance and infectious sound have won them a cult following on the British festival scene. Mixing a swinging vintage-style brass section (think Caro Emerald) with funk, soul and hip-hop. Their new album METROPOLIS is landing 10th May. This band is nothing like anything you've heard before, and this playlist is showcasing some of their best tunes in one go to place!

Hailing from Palermo in Sicily, an island off the southern coast of Italy, SWINGROWERS have been at the forefront of an electro swing revolution. Across a series of stelar albums, high profile 'official' remixes (for example Caro Emerald and Millie Smalls) and shows across many continents (with the likes of Caravan Palace and Parov Stelar) to headlining the Blue Note in Tokyo or the Montreux Jazz Festival, the band have gone from strength to strength, evolving from genre pioneers to creating their own, highly polished and distinct sound.

DELADAP's history is one of constant change, progression and the exciting search for their own unique version of pop. “I take one step forward and one step back/dance like crazy and I'm right on track/I'm a rocket on a mission, got no simple plan/just one big vision, people clap your hands,” they sing in “Merry Go Round.” Just like all pop music—indeed, all art—DELADAP want to bring people together on equal footing, get them to connect with each other and not necessarily tear down the artificial walls that separate us on various levels, but instead dance all over them. Omnipresent cultural pessimism is treated lightheartedly on the title track “Bring It On,” though they certainly position themselves against it: “Take my hand we're going out tonight/We'll be like cats and dogs and everything just feels right/Don't think twice, you've waited far too long/now take my hand the best is yet to come.”

A fresh new release by Wolfgang Lohr (Berlin/Germany) featuring Alanna Lyes (UK) on vocals brings us a funky and swinging track. Here, it has been omitted with the typical sampling from the Roaring 20’s and worked instead with completely own instruments, compositions and arrangements. By the York-born singer Alanna Lyes, „Upside Down„ really takes off. Florent Mannant (France) blowed the catchy brass riffs and Dave Wave (Italy) was playing piano to this groovy dancefloor crowd-pleaser. Tim Freitag's lead vocalist Janick’s ex was a devoted, diehard Klischée fan, often attending concerts, driving Janick to green jealousy, and, thus, totally logically, averse to electro-swing. Nevertheless, he rose above his repugnance and contacted Klischée for a remix, as if in homage to his onetime beloved. Lo and behold! The singer has now overcome his electro-swing-trauma with this remix and even confesses to being a Klischée fan.  Who would’ve thought! Miracles still do happen.
