14 June sees the release of  ‘Corner Of The Room’, Little Sparrow’s first new material since last year’s ‘Just 3’ EP. The track, taken from the forthcoming album 'Feather Moon' follows up on the debut ‘Wishing Tree’.  The single is certainly darker than previous works - with a video to match - and although the same glorious, soaring voice that characterises all her songs is still there, it is in a more dramatic direction that much of the new album is travelling.

I remember hearing a story once about a Carousel horse who was always frustrated, because no matter how many times it was ridden, and however fast it galloped, it never managed to win the race and felt like it was always chasing the tail of the horse in front...

This continued until one day, a child climbed up and onto it's back and they set off, riding slowly at first but gathering speed. The horse ran and ran, faster and faster until it felt like it's chest would burst. In the end it became so desperate to impress it's rider that it cried out - "It's no use... I can't catch up with the horse ahead... I'm sorry, I just cannot do it"...

Upon hearing it's cry of frustration and despair, the child leaned in and spoke a gentle whisper of words into it's ear... "Don't be upset, for out of all the horses that are here, I chose to ride you - and besides, you ARE the horse out in front... Just look over your shoulder and see. ALL of the other horses are behind you, racing and trying to catch up with you".

Sometimes we just need to take a look back to see how far we've come, to discover we are so much further ahead than we could ever have imagined to be...

Black & White is the second single and first original track that Emilia Tarrant has released. 100% written and composed by the artist this is the follow up to 150k streamed debut release ‘‘If you want love’, a cover version of the superb NF original. Both of Emilia’s tracks have been produced, recorded and mixed by Danton Supple (Coldplay). If you want love’ was recently featured for 3 mins in the UK’s biggest reality show Love Island.  Getting to a UK Shazam Chart position of Number 16 with over 15k shazams

Emilia says "the song is about mental state. The inability to understand your own emotions and why they are there because there are too many. This ‘cloud’ of emotion causes you to therefore move through life in mental circles, hence ‘falling back into the same routine’. I wrote the song whilst staying in the south of France during summer. The storms kept me up through the night alike my emotions. Really liked the metaphorical imagery of emotions as storms, things you want to, but can’t control. Any way you turn, you’re stuck in that same circle, can’t shake off the ‘devil’ on your shoulder."

Bio
Emilia Tarrant is a singer songwriter from Winchester, who started playing the piano at the age of 12 and has been writing songs ever since. she says ‘All my Songwriting is true from the heart and mind, a way of me escaping from the daily stresses of life’. Her early influences were formed from listening to her parent’s music collection around the house and in the car on long family holidays to Europe. Emilia grew up listening to Coldplay, Doves, Kings of Leon, Foals, Moby & Jack Johnson and says ‘It was Moby who inspired me to pursue music production within education’. Recently Emilia has been Co-writing with other artists including James Walsh from Starsailor & Sarah Sheldrake (AKA Shells). Live highlights include being invited to perform for the House Of Commons Diversity and Inclusion Awards at the BBC, the legendary acoustic night at The Groucho Club, New Music Monday at The Ned. Gold Dust Club and House Of Commons performance Oct 22nd in front of over 200 dignitaries for the CIC awards.
