Breaking Up

This is my new song “Solitary Blues” written and produced by myself during lockdown 3 in the UK. It is the first single from my forthcoming original album entitled “Ascension” to be released later this year (2021) 

The song is about feeling alone and solitary but being there for others during these tough times through technology and finding things to do until things get better. I wrote it to hopefully help those who suffer with mental health issues during Lockdown 3. Hope it inspires you or brings you comfort. Sending love.

Another day in my hideaway, nowhere to go or faces to see, tonight it’ll be another whiskey on the table and a Netflix show or three, coz outside it’s cold and quiet, each day barely a single sound. There’s an eeriness about the town,

And I’m holding on, the “boss man” tells me too, I see him every day up on the daily news, with advice so easy to misconstrue. So I turn to the piano for another tune, oh the sheer boredom I’m going through. I guess there’s only one thing to do and you know it to be true sing

Solitary Blues by Scott Chapman

"Calling Out My Name" was conceived in late summer of 2018. I was driving to my partner Lauren's place and thinking of her whilst listening to the instrumental track "Far Away Trains Passing By" by Ulrich Schnauss. I started to hum a melody along to it and the words "calling out my name" fell out. The main chord progression is based upon the Ulrich Schnauss track.

Lyrically, I drew on some thoughts I'd had whilst meditating about what we perceive as being gaps between physical objects, but that are actually filled with frequencies, atoms, energy and  light. So everything is really fully connected and there aren't any gaps between anything at all! The lyrics were also inspired by a dream I had about Lauren and I flying together over oceans and mountains.
 
The song is in essence about being in love with someone and being connected with that person  even though you may not physically be with them . It's about thinking of that person more than anyone else, it just feeling right and that something intangible is pulling you together.
