If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud GO tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks that have been previously submitted and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

"Calling Out My Name" was conceived in late summer of 2018. I was driving to my partner Lauren's place and thinking of her whilst listening to the instrumental track "Far Away Trains Passing By" by Ulrich Schnauss. I started to hum a melody along to it and the words "calling out my name" fell out. The main chord progression is based upon the Ulrich Schnauss track.

Lyrically, I drew on some thoughts I'd had whilst meditating about what we perceive as being gaps between physical objects, but that are actually filled with frequencies, atoms, energy and  light. So everything is really fully connected and there aren't any gaps between anything at all! The lyrics were also inspired by a dream I had about Lauren and I flying together over oceans and mountains.
 
The song is in essence about being in love with someone and being connected with that person  even though you may not physically be with them . It's about thinking of that person more than anyone else, it just feeling right and that something intangible is pulling you together.

Martin Paul Cuthew is a seasoned singer/guitarist and songwriter with over 20 years and 500 gigs worth of experience. He's performed all around London and the South-East, including famous venues The Half Moon Putney and Dublin Castle, Camden, as well as the international Greenbelt festival.

His influences, ranging from Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins and Biffy Clyro to Pink Floyd, Oasis and Coldplay, have shaped his soulful pop-rock sound. His debut EP ‘Erosion & Evolution’ was acclaimed by KMS Reviews as an “outstanding emotional work”, blending introspective lyrics with vibrant sonic textures. Martin's repertoire spans 60 years of classic covers alongside his original compositions, which he brings to life on stage with a stompbox, backing beats and live-looping.

While maintaining a presence in South-East England's live music scene, Martin is also building an audience with his "Acoustic Sessions" YouTube series and recently released 2 new original songs, ‘The Message’ and ‘I Will Be There’. Both inspired by poems his fiancée wrote offering him support during a struggle with anxiety and depression, 'The Message' is an R&B-infused ballad with lilting piano and shimmering guitars and 'I Will Be There' is a soothing lullaby culminating in a soaring instrumental outro.
