If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

It's been infamously said that queer people cannot experience the same rite of passage in their teenage years of falling in and out of love, finding themselves and being free to explore their gender and sexuality, so many find themselves living out their 'teenagehood' in later life. This forms the basis of Hermes captured in the line I turned 13 when I was 32. 

And why Hermes? One of the Greek Gods that has a very queer storyline and one that I was mysteriously drawn to as a child. I longed to put on my own shoes with wings and just fly out of here... and maybe now I've made that reality.

Slalom is the final track on our EP Mantras and was recorded at Glasshouse Studios in July 2022. It's a euphoric shoe gaze inspired jam that allows to have a ton of fun playing our instruments whilst having more mindful and hopeful lyrics. Slalom is about constantly switching between positive and negative mindsets and how the effects that these have on your reality are like night and day. I think it’s a nice way of concluding the EP as it’s message is the most mature and accepts that life is never straightforward, good moments come and go, so as long as you move forward they will again.

Steady, galloping beats and twangy guitars. To lovers aboard a sailing ship that’s rusting and unstable in rough waters. The wind blows on deck as it gets increasingly more wild. Vocals inspired by Velvet Underground’s Nico. Guitars reminiscent of The Cure. It all starts out as fun and games but soon becomes a death match and they’re both in for the kill. One must devour the other or the voracious waves will engulf them both. A story of a bittersweet parting and a tormented love affair make this song unforgettable and inspiring.

All You Gotta Do Is Breath

I wrote Cabrini-Green after watching the more recent Candyman (2021) film at the cinema during a trip to Edinburgh. There was something really evocative about the opening credits, where Chicago's skyscrapers are shown upside down shrouded in fog, which made me feel compelled to try and soundtrack that moment. The rest of the films narrative formed the basis of the songs verses, where I analysed themes of gentrification and inevitability. The chorus was intended to evoke the narrative of the original film being continued, it's the same story being gentrified, just like the area of Cabrini-Green. I think the gloom of the Scottish weather also helped shape the tone of the track. To me it feels like being caught in the middle of a storm. Slightly disorientating, almost therapeutic, but with a menacing undertone of impending doom.

This track explores the journey of allowing yourself to like who you are, and attempts to dispel the negative thoughts we tell ourselves in order to avoid facing and overcoming the challenges we most need to. It explores topics such as Anxiety, Confidence and our inner demons. This song has already gained traction on Spotify (through playlists and algorithmic placements), with our debut music video being released this weekend (30th April)! We were also lucky enough to have this song produced by Scott Goodrich (Story So Far).
