POSY (aka Rudy Klobas) returns to Bastard Jazz after his breakthrough debut EP, “Abroad,” released last year with a brand new single, “Fill My Cup.” This time the Portland-based producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist has teamed up with Brandon Markell Holmes, the actor-turned-vocalist known for his contribution on the Grammy-nominated Gorillaz album, “Humanz,” work with friends-of-the-label musclecars, and his own alternative R&B-meets-deep house sound (heard, for example, on 2021’s “Garden” EP with Rogue Vogue, released on toucan sounds). A signature POSY laid back instrumental forms the perfect backdrop for Brandon’s airy falsetto: Syncopated, jazzy keys, a grooving bassline, and slightly swung drums, all played, recorded, and produced by POSY himself.  

POSY is the recording name of Rudy Klobas, Portland-based producer and multi-instrumentalist with a unique sound that intersects jazz, R&B, and electronic music. Originally trained on classical guitar, POSY gradually taught himself piano, bass, and drums and began writing and recording his first songs on a four-track cassette recorder. POSY’s music is lush and densely layered, but maintains an element of simplicity that ultimately leaves one feeling relaxed, nostalgic, and hopeful all at the same time.

Rising Dutch producer Afroham releases ‘Online’, his final single before the release of debut EP ‘Quantum Love’. The 26-year-old musician from Rotterdam is fusing neo-soul, lofi and hip-hop in his very own style and fashion. ‘Online’ features Swiss singer Djemeia, best known for her work with Melodiesinfonie and Slum Village. 

On ‘Quantum Love’, Afroham (and a close group of musical friends) addresses love and rejection in the digital age, topics Millennials and Gen Z are oh so familiar with. Appropriately, Afroham and singer Ginge (who appears on two tracks) first met on Tinder and started dating. But instead of becoming a couple they ended up writing songs together. Further guests on ‘Quantum Love’ include producers/musicians Cocabona, Ian Ewing, Birocratic and Misha (all household names on the international beat & lofi scene). 

Born Nathan Avraham, Afroham's artist name is a playful take on his surname and his hairdo. His superpowers also include creating visual art via video and 3d animation (despite being colourblind). Afroham has directed and animated a full-length movie that accompanies the release of the EP and its three singles. The artwork for all four releases comes from Parisian artist MC Blue Matter who in turn was inspired by the “Quantum Love” film when he worked on the covers. 

Afroham has released a sling of successful singles on labels like Steezyasfuck and Chillhop (where he also works during daytime). His current playlist has music from artists like H.E.R., SiR, J. Dilla, Men I Trust & Mndsgn.

British-German jazz rap super group Syrup with ‘Hate To Ride Alone’, the second single from their forthcoming album ‘The Questions’ (02.06.23). Syrup are Twit One (beats), Turt of Summers Sons (rap) and C.Tappin (vocals & keys). Twit is from Cologne, Turt and Tap are from London. Best known to date for his prolific work as a bassist in groups like The Social Experiment (with Chance The Rapper & Nico Segal), Resavoir, The JuJu Exchange and Kids These Days, here Beckstrom continues to step forward as a solo artist, handling all of the vocals, bass, keys and drums on "Mineral" (with producer/engineer Paul Cherry assisting on guitar and some additional synths), a song which Lane describes as "a summer bop for anyone that knows they're in love forever."
