POSY (aka Rudy Klobas) returns to Bastard Jazz after his breakthrough debut EP, “Abroad,” released last year with a brand new single, “Fill My Cup.” This time the Portland-based producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist has teamed up with Brandon Markell Holmes, the actor-turned-vocalist known for his contribution on the Grammy-nominated Gorillaz album, “Humanz,” work with friends-of-the-label musclecars, and his own alternative R&B-meets-deep house sound (heard, for example, on 2021’s “Garden” EP with Rogue Vogue, released on toucan sounds). A signature POSY laid back instrumental forms the perfect backdrop for Brandon’s airy falsetto: Syncopated, jazzy keys, a grooving bassline, and slightly swung drums, all played, recorded, and produced by POSY himself.  

POSY is the recording name of Rudy Klobas, Portland-based producer and multi-instrumentalist with a unique sound that intersects jazz, R&B, and electronic music. Originally trained on classical guitar, POSY gradually taught himself piano, bass, and drums and began writing and recording his first songs on a four-track cassette recorder. POSY’s music is lush and densely layered, but maintains an element of simplicity that ultimately leaves one feeling relaxed, nostalgic, and hopeful all at the same time.

Today we are announcing the first compilation that we are putting together with artists we’re close to or a part of the movement.  For 10 years our focus has always been to provide the best and a solid ground for artists to put out their music – we are now trying a new approach and putting our name on a release to showcase our favorite producers in a collection of tracks carefully picked by the staff.

The vibe in the release is a flight mode collection of tracks before a night out or just cruising in the car on a sunny day or evening. A moment you could have before all this technology came to life was going to your friends house not knowing what to expect and i think this could describe the project pretty well. 

The focus has always been beats that vary in around 70 to 90 bpm but here we are seeing a boost in the tempo and i truly hope all of the listeners will appreciate the tracks we’ve added, the producers were introduced to the idea i mentioned above and i let them fully experiment with a style and not limit them in terms of creation.

For each of these projects in the future our aim will also be to showcase photographers, illustrators or painters to bring out and show light on people we appreciate in this scene. For this project i wanted someone i know that spends his weekends around the streets of Los Angeles taking shots of some of the most beautiful cars & crews around the area.
