I met Anna through a very cute n very special lil facebook group a few months back, and we've been exchanging tunes n dancing together regularly ever since. As well as being the mastermind behind the incredible charity party series, WHOMP (the next one is coming up on the 22nd of oct!), Anna hosts the very wonderful 'Sound Of...' show on @narr-radio , where you can catch her serving up her floaty, psychedelic n electro-infused smorgasbord of sounds on a bi-monthly basis. I am sooooo excited for you all to hear this mix - it's defo an hour of Annx at her most magical💙🦋💙

Chuffed to have kicked off my brand new shiny Netil show with none other than @fhionnbarra

I was lucky enough to see Fhionbarra play a couple of times last year, and on both occasions I was hooked from start to finish! He’s a very special DJ, with the sickest selection of tunes - so I'm so excited for you all to hear this :)

I warm things up with some deep stuff in the first hour, and Fhionbarra does his thing in the second - enjoy!!

I was incredibly lucky to have Bristol-based DJ @monokedj joining me for this months Netil show!

I first fell in love with Monoke's sound after listening to her @hawsmusic mix - she's the queen of dubby, percussive techno and driving, bassy tunes, and this mix has honestly blown me away all over again. Strap yourselves in for a serious journey of swelling deep atmospheres, pummelling drums and criss-crossing textures🌀

For May's show, I was lucky enough to be joined by @mateohurtadomusic . With incredible releases on the likes of Annulled Music and Space Drum Meditation, he's one of my favourite producers right now.

For the second half of the show, Mateo shared one of his hypnotic live sets, a heady mix of pulsating rhythms and ethereal atmospheres, drawing listeners into a hazy, mysterious, dreamscape - enjoy!

This was a very special show for me - it felt like a full circle moment going b2b with the lovely @hewizee on Netil Radio last month - we started off as online, tune-sharing penpals so it was the sweetest thing to be able to share music with each other in real life <3

For this show we stuck mostly to our shared passion - trance - with a few sidesteps into more playful, percussive tracks and deep, hypnotic techno. Enjoy!

Netil Radio - Faery invites Night Garden & Timesplitters - 15.07.22

This hybrid mix formed part of a recent research project exploring plant language and speculative sonic fictions :)

About the mix:

Plants have inhabited Earth for more than four-hundred-and-fifty million years, while humans have called this planet home for little more than seven million. Plants, with their collectively sustaining outlook, drawn from a wealth of ancestral knowledge - stored in winding, subterranean mycorrhizal networks - travel through time, but not in the linear sense: they are at once past, present and (thanks to their efficient, predictive capabilities) future. They are a reminder of, and a steady companion to, Earth’s long lifecycle. While their methods of communication may not be as visibly and sonically obvious as those of our own and our animal companions, plants have a fascinatingly plural language system - a complex, decentralised, multi-player network that Bio-17 attempts to sonify.

Bio-17, a name owing its form to Samuel Delany’s 1966 sci-fi novel, Babel-17 - a novel concerning interplanetary translation - is a collaborative, interspecies linguistic study. Through a spectrum of original and gathered, human and plant-made sounds - including arboreal field recordings, vocal samples, and processed biorhythmic data, all interwoven with tracks by other artists - I have explored the ways in which vegetal language systems might be decoded into music - using the medium's spatio-sensory capacities, and widely interpretable nature, to reflect a multiplicity of voices communicating within an interconnected whole.

For September's show I was lucky to be joined by Swiss DJ, Sun Drine. After seeing her beautiful sunset set at Above Below Festival in June - a set which touched me very deeply - I was so happy that she accepted my invitation to be on the show :)

Sandrine's set is warm and enveloping, introspective yet also outward-facing - a perfect end to a summer of blissful, outdoor partying <3

I was really lucky to be able to share a guest mix from French DJ and producer @sindh for October's Netil show :)

I've been a big fan of both of Louis' musical projects, Sindh and @9_beats, for a long time. So after finally meeting him in person this summer at Pan D'or, a small DIY festival he co-runs, nestled in a forest in Burgundy, I was so delighted he was able to contribute a mix to the show <3

A hypnotic hour of wiggy half-time dnb and glowing, droney ambient, this mix is pretty special as it's an excerpt from his set at this years' Ouroboros festival🐍

And as usual, for the first hour, I drifted though some tripped-out earthy textures🌿

so lucky to have had @lynne-tokyo on my netil show this month <3

I met Lynne in the summer of 2021 at our first party back after covid - it was a really special experience to share :)

Since then, each time I've seen Lynne play I've been totally blown away by her sets - she has the best selection of DnB of anyone I know. For this show, she took us on an incredible trip through some of her favourite dubstep - I had the best time dancing in the netil booth - hope you enjoy!!

Netil Radio - Faery b2b Amphybian b2b Night Garden - 16.12.22

For February's show I was joined by London-based artist @jinsynth - Jin is one of my absolute favourite producers and DJs right now, and she blew me away again with her beautiful ambient set for the show.

She's had a busy schedule so far this year, including an East Asia tour (which saw her play at iconic Seoul venue Vurt), as well as appearances at Mostra Festival in Barcelona, Astral Industries x Hypnus in London, and Above Below Festival in Hertfordshire. She also runs the regular deep techno party, Mondo Mistico, which has its home at London's cosiest event space, Spanners. Big recommendation for any Londoners looking for deeper sounds!

For June's Netil show, I was joined by two amazing guests - London-based DJ and sound artist, @eightfoldway, and one of my favourite producers right now, the wonderful @aasudd <3

Eight Fold Way joined me live in the studio for the first hour and delved into his incredible collection of experimental ambient - his set moves effortlessly through angular architectures encased in ominous dronescapes, continually complicated by shifting, fractal rhythms. In the second hour, Aa Sudd tunnels through racing, meteoric techno effortlessly cut with broken, technoid halftime.

The first podcast of the year features our dear friend, London-based DJ, and sound artist, Faery. Many of you are likely familiar with her work and may have experienced her enchanting performances at renowned venues like Amsterdam’s De School, Positive Education Festival, or London’s Village Underground. She has crafted an immersive, hour-long winter mix for us, which we are incredibly proud to present 🕯️

Faery’s hypnotic selections blend the psychedelic depths of deep techno, tripped-out psy-influenced sounds, dark vortex-like D’n’B, and experimental ambient. Her sound navigates through intricate sound design and rich, moody textures, both within the club realm and in listening scenarios. One of the notable examples of this is her ambient sound art project Bio-17 released last year, where original biorhythmic samples are woven into experimental ambient to create speculative sonic worlds 🌚✨

Faery’s profound introspective journey takes us through the shadowy realms of crepuscular ambient and downtempo. From the outset, we are lured and caught in its rich honey-like currents, spiralling like dervishes as we dive deep and deeper into the mystical sonic gyre. No words can do the sensation justice, so you’ll just have to try for yourselves. Happy swirling 💫

—Freya followed @azu-tiwaline 's enchanting hybrid performance with an absolute power hour of haunting, dubbed-out 170 rhythms… energy!!!

the sound in the room was truly stunning (thanks Jai <3) and watching one of our favourite DJs close an RZB night, nestled in front of aevi's visuals on an enormous (almost didn’t fit in the room) projector screen was quite a moving experience—a huge thanks again to all the crew, artists and dancers who brought this to life.

Faery ❍ Live at Exchange, Bristol [17.05.24]

We're beaming to bring you Mix #196, coming at you from London-based DJ and sound artist, Faery.

Faery’s mind-trippin’, body-shakin’ sonic blend for On the 5th Day is inspired by a special b2b session back in July - a dense, heady and brooding rhythmic exploration worthy of the most electric early-hours dance floor.

From the groovers to the pounders, the rollers to the grinders, Freya takes us on a steamy exploration through the heavier realms of the Faery spectrum we’ve come to love; a power-hour selection saluting the beauty of intricate sound design and otherworldly atmospheric landscapes.

Faery has been working her magic for dance floor dwellers at some of the most special venues and festivals in the recent years (think Amsterdam’s De School and Positive Education Festival...); while off of the dance floor, expanding her sonic explorations to where biorhythmic sampling meet experimental ambient, resulting in the creation of “speculative sonic worlds”.  

We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this talented artist but for now, buckle up and enjoy the ride!
