My love for Detroit Techno started in the mid nineties after hearing dj Damon in the Nighttown Rotterdam. I heard Detroit techno before but I never realized it.
Later he became one of my best friends and he gave me a lot of his own tracks.
 It took me a long time to recognize Detroit Techno because you have to feel it and a lot of artists just label it as Detroit Techno and don't have the Soul and spirit like the old masters.

This playlist is meant for people who like to discover new and old tracks inspired by Detroit Techno.
And if you hear something which doesn't fit the profile just send me a message and i will reconsider it.

Garnier, the Grand Seigneur of Techno, surprises with his first EP for 50WEAPONS.

Known as pioneer and influencer of the global electronic music scene, internationally respected DJ and the undisputed godfather of the French techno scene, Garnier is always in touch with the emergence of new artists and genres. His music career has always been about integrity. Worth mentioning is the re-edition of Laurent Garnier’s book “Electrochoc”, which was released in 2003. The book is a journey through electronic music history via Laurent Garnier's career, starting in 1987 until the present day.

Nonetheless his release for 50WEAPONS doesn't at all sound like the “the French touch” one would expect, but pairs the dark sound of 90ies techno icons Underground Resistance with bleepy acid lines.

Here Garnier reiterates his close working relationship with the underground and shows once again his skill and rigour as a producer.

Typical Garnier basslines flirt with the Retro Charme of Chicago and the roots of house music as well as his own. There's a reminiscence of ”The sound of the big Babou” one of his great hits, but it seams like a version stripped down to the streamlines of an underground club between 4 and 6 a.m.

And quite the star, Monsieur Garnier garnishes his EP with a B side full of conoisseur hit potential. With its shouted vocals and driving bassline H.E. Is a killer of a swinger.

The EP, entitled AF 4302, is distinguished by an organic, raw, acid-flavoured techno sound. Three tracks and three different moods in which Garnier reinvents himself and takes his music to new, unchartered territories.

These tracks are razor sharp and should be handled with care!

Since Stefano Noferini's debut release on Monika Kruse's label Terminal M Records in the beginning of 2015 he released some more of his hi quality clubtunes on his own label Deeperfect, Toolroom Trax and Stereo Productions. For these three new tracks he teamed up with Metodi Hristov from Sofia, Bulgaria's capital who's releases and remixes on Rejected, Time Has Changed and Noir Music were always sure chart toppers. Curious to see which one of the three tracks will make it too.

A decade on from his debut release, one of Romania's finest cultural exports returns to his favourite stomping ground with a trans- mission that showcases variety, technical skill and an intimate understanding of the dynamics of the floor.

The stripped-down, moody menace of 'The Swindle' kicks things off, dancing semi- quavers panning left and right, a mysterious male voice incanting. A bass synth motif carries the tune to a climax before its buoyant, trancey conclusion. At all times, elements unfold organically, carrying the listener away.

'Rotate' casts a busier, jacking vibe, its analogue synth cycles pinging against each other. Glimmering layers of sound create an endlessly immersive, deadly deep groove.

'Feed Me' is slower, slinkier and rougher in equal measure. The sustained synths create a gliding sensation, the male vocal first mellifluous and sung then husky and spoken.

'Chance' is a shuffling, fizzing deep house groove, precision-tooled for the dance- floor. "Let it take control" urges a male voice. Sound advice for this deliciously hypnotic groove.

After Gilb'R's remix of J.A.K.A.M. a few months ago, we're delighted to premiere another track off their latest release : an EP by The Kloom, a new all-star project born in Dusseldorf through members of Autarkic, Naduve, Stabil Elite and more. Needless to say, impressive cast. The Die Wilde Jagd remix was our choice of the day, a slow motion groover topped with analog waves and haunting delayed vocals. Out this month so don't sleep !

Benedikt Frey is many. Or just one? He is a composer. An arranger. A DJ. A Liveact. A ghost producer. A fan. He also plays in bands like INIT, or Dolphins or KEYS +++ produced the last two albums for Chris Imler. Downbeat in experimental dub zones. The goat for Edits and remixes. When house was his nation, he used to listen to pen names like Suedmilch or Venedikt Reyf. He still likes the music formed under their umbrella, but today his tomorrow is not echoed in yesterday. His sound signature moved on. Into the open. He founded labels like R.i.O. or Serious Trouble. 

He lives in Berlin. Physically. In mind Benedikt Frey is at many places. Traveling far thru his home studio that is a flat a studio a flat an instrument a record collection a flat a studio. Everywhere gear, vinyl, tapes, instruments, rooms for spontaneous sonic notions, these moments, when a sudden strike of stimulation falls. He is inspired a lot. For music to dance. Music for films. Music for live shows. Music for dancing glows. Techno, house, downbeat, ambient, jungle, electronics outside the norms. Those transportive ones. Jamming with others. Jamming with his mind. In Berlin Wedding, North of the town, where the lights dimmed low, neighbors share the flow, and a small river runs slow.  As a DJ he plays here, there, everywhere. Big clubs, small shacks, festivals, gatherings. From fast to 90 BPM - as he feels. 

For himself. For the crowd. In the spur. He still remembers his club kid days. Going to dance with friends. Down there in Offenbach. Doing the Robert Johnson. Collective emotions for a better tomorrow. These he still seeks. In his music. His shows. His collaborations. You can book him for a party. For enlightenment. For ecstasy or introspective perspectives. Dancing slow, whilst pirouetting a high-pitched show. 

Since more than a decade. His own music is out there, too. Bringing his spirits in sound. On his own labels. On international imprints like ESP Institute, Hivern Discs, Craigie Knowes, or Emotional Response. Solo works. Driving ones. Slow drills. Teased during his DJ dates around the planet. 

The music plays day and night. Inspiration comes. From a simple kick drum. A movie sequence. A bird on the sill. A picture, totally still. Can’t kick that feeling when it hits. Benedikt Frey. In dreams. In streams. In music. Emotions. Situations. At night. In those flashy lights, when it bites.
