A new Watergate Records EP debutant steps up, as Malandra Jr. shares the first-class 'Memories from the Future'. 
 
The Italian artist previously featured on the label via a tight remix of JAMIIE'S ‘Voices' last year and has been on the crew's radar ever since. 
 
His maiden three-tracker is a glistening trip through cosmic progressive, soaring vocal-driven compositions, fleet-footed dusty rhythms and rolling grooves made for both peak and closing moments. 
 
The title track is a transcendental gem, building with dramatic intensity as it uncoils over a sublime six minutes, led by a vocal crafted for big moments. 'Automatik' is crushing electro made for outdoor party scenarios, which isn't afraid to get a little weird. A handy tool for adding spice to any set. 'The Wall Era' feat. Boom Buzz is another beast, built upon the bricks of a multitude of chopped up samples and a wicked acid line in the track’s final stanza, which feels both tribal and psychedelic, without ever being either. A thrilling cut!

Coming off the highly-touted ‘Clean the Turbines (The Remixes)' EP just before the holidays, When We Dip XYZ is proud to kickstart a new era for the label with the ‘Superhero' EP by INVŌKER, including a remix from Motip White.

Hailing from La Réunion and now based in Paris, INVŌKER has crafted a sound of his own in recent years, marrying innovative concepts, memorable synth work and a remarkable sonic research in drums and textures. Siamese, Innervisions and TAU are home to a few of his recent outings.

Motip White, a mainstay of the imprint, is establishing himself as the latest in a long line of Cologne legends. His songwriting prowess, complemented by top-notch sound design, has been featured on Innervisions, Frau Blau, Anims and When We Dip XYZ.

The title-track, ‘Superhero' is an immediate attention-grabber with its tight groove, upbeat ad-libs and glitchy risers. As the tune develops, the celestial pad and main riff unfold into an ecstatic crescendo.

The constantly evolving arpeggio of ‘Requiem for a Detox' serves as an invitation to an indelible trip. Soothing vocal touches serve as backdrop, building in intensity and sighing in relief as the different chapters of the track succeed one another.

Sprinkling his own vocals to the mix, Motip White comes in with hard bass stabs, driving hi-hats and a haunting chord progression. The new full-blown synths added by White play a game of hide and seek with the arp from the original, a symmetry between climaxes and linking thread.

Since its debut in 2017, Damian Lazarus’ annual ‘SPIRITS’ series on Crosstown Rebels has been a beacon for breakthrough artists, setting the label’s agenda for the year ahead. The sixth instalment in February is another meticulously curated lineup with ‘SPIRITS VI’ featuring a blend of new and recognisable talents, including Lauren Lane, Cristina Lazic, Iñigo Vontier, AJ Christou and many more.

London-based talent Cameron Jack kicks off what looks set to be a breakout year with ‘The Vision’, a bubbly and tropical cut with cosmic synths and loose, jumbled rhythms. Chris Bowl then brings his emotional style to the deep, rolling beats and fresh melodies of ‘Silent Plain’, while NY-born, LA-based house tastemaker Lauren Lane layers in smoky pads and tender whispers to her sublime deep house cut, ‘Fair Game.’ Next, German talent and Degree Records head Marc Lenz brings darker vibes to his track ‘People Are People’, while Rebellion artist Cristina Lazic and previous Lazarus collaborator Leia Contois combine for the alluring vocal soul and gritty minimal drums of ‘So Deep’.

Mexican Iñigo Vontier is a pioneer in his homeland after crafting a global reputation, and his twisted synths, shiny textures and steely drums on ‘That Trippy Sound’ prove why as they work you into a trance. Next is influential Manchester-based DJ/producer AJ Christou, who has released on the likes of Hot Creations and Cuttin’ Headz. His track ‘Back & Forth’ brings an infectious groove with plenty of flair and catchy drum funk, before TMPLE shuts things down with the deft, airy grooves and floating bass of ‘The Girl In The Room’, complete with its tender male vocals.

At the forefront of electronic innovation, Crosstown Rebels stands as a pivotal platform and record label, reflecting the genre’s diversity and housing an impressive roster that includes renowned artists and household names like Art Department, Maceo Plex, and Jamie Jones. With sub-labels Rebellion and Secret Teachings in tow, the imprint consistently and continuously expands its musical canvas, creating an immersive landscape for leading and emerging talents to thrive.

PREMIERE: Marc Lenz - People Are People [ Crosstown Rebels ]

Craft is still riding high off his recent album Temporary Bliss on Diversions Music, which found the Paris-based talent laying out his unique take on melodic and afro-house across eleven immersive
tracks. It comes after years of being a core part of the scene, and a go-to for artists like Black Coffee and Bedouin and a regular on the likes of MoBlack and Connected and Diversions Music. Here, he
joins forces with countryman Baron (FR), a French DJ/Producer with a progressive musical influence from jazz and afro with a unique style, supported by the likes of Pete Tong, Seth Troxler and Bedouin
while signing with labels like One Tribe Records, MoBlack, Monaberry, Azzur.

Says Craft, "The idea of this project with Baron naturally grew out of our yearly Tulum retreat. We wanted an EP that could resonate with a wide range of DJs without sacrificing our melodic, organic imprint." And that is exactly what they have managed.

Opener 'Hilo' features ARKADYAN & P.Rivas, and is a beguiling mix of Latino and acid sounds. The rumbling bass anchors dancers to the floor while the expressive vocals bring an exotic sense of soul that takes you into all new worlds. The excellent 'Paradigm' then dives deep into a richly melodic world that will douse dance floors in dreamy delight. It's a track that suspends your senses next to deft pads and soft shakers and is another escapist gem from this pair.

Fricko well known in his home country Slovakia celebrates his debut on German label luft&liebe with his tracks Hypnotica and Venus. The title track Hypnotica sets the listener into an hypnotic state of mind with an ecstatic groove and a pumping baseline that is intertwining with atmospheric and shimmering synth pads that creates a chilling but intense atmosphere. The accompanying track Venus what's pretty much a straight-up dance floor track showing the ability of Fricko to be versatile, to create at a different pace but keeping the red thread in his works. A sophisticated groove with a pumping baseline intertwining with accelerating arpeggios and lush synth pads that sets the atmosphere. What a promising debut!

Brothers Lukáš and Marek (Frickobrothers) joined their creative forces in their hometown, Žilina. Here he opened the MICHIGAN nightclub with commercial music from 2001 to 2007. Later they became residents of Žilina's Miami club, where the world of non-commercial music was opened to them. The breakthrough in the world of music occurred after the first visit to the island of Ibiza. Playing in the local Atrium (Žilina), he started a legend with this style. Various other concerts, fashion shows, non-commercial listening concerts, special appearances at major events, event organization, where the Hypnotic brand was born. Hypnotic and Frickobrohers is known in Slovakia for his mix of melodic house, afro house, melodic techno and vocals, remixes of old hip-hop songs, where he returns to the roots in which he grew up musically in his MICHIGAN nightclub and residence in the Miami Club. Hypnotic at Enjoyclub in Žilina. Additionally, it is played a lot in small cafes and bars, and at private events. A residency like Frickobrothers Sunday Sunsets led to building a community of people who began listening to this style of music that continues to this day. Marek releases his debut under the name Fricko. This latest work marks their long-lasting collaboration. Beyond its porous surface, the work is a testament to his artistic skill. Again, the brothers remain fascinated by connections, by connecting past, present and future in their compositions. Defying the boundaries of the genre, Fricko once again breaks free, seamlessly combining electronic elements into a rich tapestry of sound, creating an intricate musical landscape that traverses various realms of electronica. Meticulously captured by the production duo, the studio recordings reflect balance and creativity that transform their tracks into timeless pieces.
