Mattias Fridell and Alexander Johanssons Laxunge EP lands on Symbolism.

Their debut EP for Ben Sims vital imprint sees the frequent collaborators turn in four tracks of devil-in-the-detail techno.
Kicking off with Laxunge, a loopy piece of tripping funk that twists an incessant lead with true jazz flair, the Swedish pair dont mess about on Laxunge EP. The second track, Apparaten, is as dominating and disorientating as it is stomping, while Bakhalts metallic, dragging soundscapes show a tense but reflective side to the duos material. Nojig closes the EP with a flittering, upbeat melody embedded into a hazy groove that, while the most subtle work on display here, still carries a hefty portion of dancefloor clout.

On this first release on Lømsk Records, four characterful & sly tracks reside.

Starting with “Greven”, its focus is on an eroding & melodic synth line, with pulsating & abundant drums and clattering hi-hat patterns. Next comes “Skamsen” twisting things with wriggle-inducing detuned polyrhythmic sequences & straight machine funk. With the two tracks on the B-side, things take a shifty turn with the first one being the nervous “Svett”, a sweaty energy entity with haunting reverse elements. The record rounds off with “40W”, a hysterical action-filled no-nonsense track rooted in classic dance-floor action.

Lømsk Records, masterminded by Alexander Johansson & Mattias Fridell, is dedicated to our own musical output, is firmly rooted in the mindset and spirit of utilizing a somewhat playful & mischievous, but always genuine, approach to the concept of underground dance music and as a label.

An approach that is faithful & influenced by the characteristics of old Swedish labels & artists we were inspired by as young techno enthusiasts. These are also components we often feel are deprived in the world of contemporary electronic music. And when something is repressed it’s natural to seek to add to it. FillIng the vacuum.

It’s equal parts being faithful as well as paying homage to an idea & spirit that we revere, both then and now. We believe molding the mentality from the past with our current devotion to electronic music is the ideal direction for us. The name itself spins on this, “lömsk” roughly translates to “sneaky” “sly” or “shifty”. You may rely on us.

For Slyngel EP, the second edition on Lømsk, you’ll find 4 mischievous tracks, each with its own personal characteristics.”Trefvli” opens the release with a steady focus on stomping rhythms and a raw synth melody. “Katalast” takes things in another direction with its corroded synth sequence and metallic percussion workouts, while “Enrak” is essentially a minimal powerhouse with wobbly qualities that just keeps on going. And “Vedbod” finishes the EP off with a lively but cold melody, fast-paced rhythms and clever reverb tails. Sly & shifty, you may rely on us..

On its 46th release, MindTrip welcomes two substantial artists from Sweden on a collaborative 4-track EP. Matthias Fridell and Alexander Johansson are standalone producers but their common ideas and vision brought them together on various shared releases in the last couple of years. The two combined push their boundaries while squeezing their 909 sounds and short synth loops with a clear 90's flavor. Here's what they say about their ''Datamaskin'':
''The tracks came together based on the limitation to use only a Dreadbox Erebus synth as the main element for playing sequences, and building drums, assisting synths & rhythmic patterns around those sequences.

Since the Erebus is fully analog with no way of saving your patches, the limitations placed on you force you to come up with ideas and create something during that current session and capture it. That's the core and foundation of the tracks residing on this release.

The only time post-editing was used was for "Debil" where some hi-hats were added afterwards.''
