On this first release on Lømsk Records, four characterful & sly tracks reside.

Starting with “Greven”, its focus is on an eroding & melodic synth line, with pulsating & abundant drums and clattering hi-hat patterns. Next comes “Skamsen” twisting things with wriggle-inducing detuned polyrhythmic sequences & straight machine funk. With the two tracks on the B-side, things take a shifty turn with the first one being the nervous “Svett”, a sweaty energy entity with haunting reverse elements. The record rounds off with “40W”, a hysterical action-filled no-nonsense track rooted in classic dance-floor action.

Lømsk Records, masterminded by Alexander Johansson & Mattias Fridell, is dedicated to our own musical output, is firmly rooted in the mindset and spirit of utilizing a somewhat playful & mischievous, but always genuine, approach to the concept of underground dance music and as a label.

An approach that is faithful & influenced by the characteristics of old Swedish labels & artists we were inspired by as young techno enthusiasts. These are also components we often feel are deprived in the world of contemporary electronic music. And when something is repressed it’s natural to seek to add to it. FillIng the vacuum.

It’s equal parts being faithful as well as paying homage to an idea & spirit that we revere, both then and now. We believe molding the mentality from the past with our current devotion to electronic music is the ideal direction for us. The name itself spins on this, “lömsk” roughly translates to “sneaky” “sly” or “shifty”. You may rely on us.

Spektakel EP comes with four assorted, yet unified tracks of mischievous and sly techno. Herman opens the release with jacking rhythms, driving hi-hat patterns and a shifty synth riff. The jacking characteristics are also present in Tittut, a somewhat more minimal track with slippery grooves. With Sista ordet, things takes a different direction, with it being based on a dirty stab sequence with vocal hooks, as well as classic dirty machine funk with layers of hi-hats. Techno veterans, Alexander Johansson & Mattias Fridell, have been releasing music together for over 20 years on many of the genre's most established and notable labels, and here we are in the year 2023 seeing their first definitive techno album on Recorded Things.

Label owners Oliver Rosemann and Sebastian Rothermel approached Alexander & Mattias with the proposition to make an album for their label, and after heartfelt conversations about it, everyone concluded that their ideas aligned, both conceptual and musical and that it was time to set a plan for it in motion. True to their nature, Alexander and Mattias provide their signature sound in album form; efficient rhythmical work-outs & stern, yet playful synth sequences that sometimes bear the mark of classic techno, and other times take unexpected directions. All in a package that presents an uncommonly energetic album, with no fillers or pauses. There is just one direction, from start to finish.

For “Digitaliserat smuts” we recorded a simple rhythm through a broken amp speaker and built layers of digital dirty ambiances upon in. “Halvdant ombyte” is another one of our basic, hectic and anxious synth & drum machine workouts, based on two repetitive synth riffs. “Lokaliserat nederlag” goes into machine funk territory with flanger flavored beats and chunky stabs, and finally “Jesse svarar aldrig” rounds the release off with bright lush pads over a steady groovy bassline and rhythm section. Lømsk's Alexander Johansson and Mattias Fridell made their Blueprint Records debut at the start of last year with their "Geometriska Strukturer EP" (BP067). Now they're back with a new four-tracker, "Marvatten EP".

This Swedish duo have built an impressive reputation since their production debut in 2000 and have gone on to release music on labels including Audio Assault, Symbolism, H. Productions, ARMS, XXX Records, and of course James Ruskin's Blueprint, as well as their own Lømsk label, which they launched in 2022.

On "Marvatten EP" they deliver four more solid Techno cuts that are primed for the dance floor, set forrelease 26 April on vinyl and digitally.

"Batteritorsk" is opens the EP with its intense synth sequence, and basic rhythm while "Bedragren" functions with a sleepy melody, pads and vocals, and stompy beats. "Obehaget" takes things in a new direction with strongly compressed drums and a repetitive synth work-out. Rounding off with "Dykaren", which dives down in the swamp of classic drum machines and deep stab chords.

The phrase “Vad I Allsin Dar” is an expression that intensifies a question, emphasizing the speaker's confusion or inability to comprehend something. This concept inspired the EP. Frossa opens with a cold, driving synth sequence that gradually builds in intensity, layered over a steady rhythm punctuated by unpredictable moments. Sondpuls takes a similar approach but introduces three intertwining synth layers that ripple like transverse waves. Knuff features a driving synth line that serves as the guiding force, around which the other elements align. The EP concludes with Aska, delivering a moody & melodic yet gritty and heavy conclusion.

Rävspel has become a staple in our live set: a dry, dense, and cheeky workout that just refuses to let up. Raljera shifts the focus to clicky, smattering percussion riding over a steady low-end groove, topped with a mischievous synth line. Pyspunka builds its energy around a panicked sequence and a raw, distorted foundation, while Krokben keeps that distortion, while opening up more space and depth in its twisting, dimensional synth work. His releases on labels like Gynoid Audio, Eshu, Audio Assault and many others displaying a very creative output. With "Artificial Personality Layer" Fridell delivers his first full-lenght Affin EP, after appearing on Chris Page's "Used" EP with a superb remix. Listening to this 4 tracker, it is obvious that he's dealing with a lot of influences that hit him over this period producing electronic music. So this EP can be filed as a statement of continuousness of Fridells ingredients of sound. Enjoy!
