AM Noods Residency w/ Prince Stoner & Lucien Douglas

This time we air a takeover from Naarm-based angels Tyler and Bel. 

Tyler and Bel are visual artists and selectors with an unboundaried approach to sound and era. They both have shows on Mouthfull - Tyler hosts the weekly broadcast Semi-Precious, whereas Bel hosts an infrequent show titled Some Times.

Their mix for FPR is split into two halves; 

The first explores music recorded in Denmark and Sweden between 1969 - 2022. It is inspired by a recent trip to Scandinavia, and the souvenir 12”s that made their way into Bel's suitcase - and building upon our growing collection of Northern sounds on the shelf. Referencing the diasporic pull to home, familiar melodies, tones and colours. 

The second hour captures music for dance and theatre, music to move to, sounds that score an imaginary performance. The mix is textural and narrative based creating a kind of escapism, with ebbs and flows of energy moving with fluidity through percussion and synths.

Started almost ten years ago, when I was still heavily influenced by melodic jungle and breakbeat and actively playing piano, this album was shaped by artists such as London Elektricity, Sewerslvt, and neo-classical genres. It became a meeting point between these worlds, where electronic rhythm and melodic expression coexist. After years of evolution, detours, and refinement, this album has finally been completed.

In this album, I express myself through what I see, feel, and live. Moments of light and darkness alike are captured as fragments of memory, transformed into a continuous musical journey. Each track is an invitation to step into a small, safe space, where the listener can let their imagination unfold, forming personal emotional connections. The music does not dictate a story; it guides it, allowing each listener to project their own vision while being gently led through sound.
