Melbourne born singer-songwriter Aaron Joseph Russo is back at it with a new single called ‘Calzone’. Skillfully mixing styles and ranging from mellow psychedelic synth effects to angelic vocal melodies, the Australian singer is still impressive by his unique style and creativity. This track is an indie pop song about a self reflection of Aaron’s own personality. He expresses a certain duality by blending introspective lyrics with sparkly upbeat songs and dreamy instrumental.

It’s about desperately trying to keep every moment and person from your past close to your chest, layered around your neck like hundreds of heart shaped lockets. Sometimes going down memory lane doesn’t feel like sweetly opening those lockets and admiring the photos inside, but rather like someone pulling on those chains from behind and choking you with nostalgia. “Heart Shaped Locket” sneaks hard lessons about how growing up is learning to let go into an almost “Keith Urban if he made indie folk” level bop. With anthemic gang vocals about learning how to make friends with time, the ending of the song will leave you feeling like you are sticking your head out of a moon roof like Emma Watson in the Perks of Being A Wallflower.

Just a love song about two kids fine with being in love. The musical GENIUS, Clay Oilar, produced the track and wrote most of the lyrics. I wrote my parts, helped with the bridge, and gave input on changes to the track. Cover art done by me. This song goes out to all those kids fine with getting out of the friendzone.

You are currently reading about Frightened Rabbit. They are a band who live in Glasgow and have done for some time. They record in bedrooms, cupboards and kitchens. Anyone can be in Frightened Rabbit. 

They have played some live shows in this city, but want to meet people from other cities, in order that they can come and blow into tubes when they play live. Lets keep pop music alive by getting it out of that dress and into a sweater.
