Cawd Slaydaz is a clear shift for Frigio Records. Yet, this debutant also marks a return of sorts. The album brings together Max Abysmal and Hugo van Heijningen. Max is active as DJ and producer with releases on Safe Trip, Kalahari Oyster Cult & Dekmantel. Hugo is a musician with a history of projects & aliases like Red Light Radio (co-founder), Hugo de Naranja, DJ Soulseek, White Slice, Firestone, Malkovich and Stallion’s Stud with releases on labels such as Pinkman, Artificial Dance, Recreo, Suburban & Müstesna Records. The link that connects the two? Their love for Colombia and the rich musical melting pot of this diverse nation. Nothing is stable on this eleven track LP, recorded in Bogotá Colombia with 10 different local guest artists.

2023 and Frigio return to one of their flagship collection series, Frigio Allstars. This fifth installment marks a new venture for the label with a spread of different styles explored by old friends and new monikers. One fresh pseudonym is Starhawk & Friends, known from Vol. 1 as I-Land Beat, who offers up a broken beat belter guaranteed to put crooked smiles on faces. 

Returnees include Rambal Cochet with the rap infused elegance of “Metacortex” while Sons of Traders digs deep into dissonance and distortion for “I Don’t Inspire Hope.”

Jack Carel is back after his appearance on Vol. 4 with two tracks that range from the hiphop inspired strings and snares of “4 Seasons” to genre bending daredevilry of “Friday Rocks." 

Delivering a stripped back New Beaty beast, Neud Photo returns to the series with “Spark Knock” which bares its teeth through a haze of static and angular melodies.

Warped patterns and lost language are the chosen tools for a hypno-trip from Textbeak Defa Voctave before the industrial undercurrents of Death Posture (Daniel Holt to some)leads us out of a 12” that explores a spectrum of sounds across its eight tracks.

The machine was oppressive and loud, it watched from the skies above, like a great overseer from the beyond. The people down below knew not why or who was behind the bulking beast but they could remember the sunshine and the life that had existed before. That, they would never forget.

It was always there, watching their every move as they came and went. It was a deconstruction tool, designed to break apart the pieces of a society which was once rife with colour and care. Now it was all gone.

It knew everything, the de-constructor. It was everything.

That was all.

Valencia based record label Frigio are set to release a remix package which features alternate versions of tracks from CLOCK DVA. This one is a hard hitting electro focussed EP which is built for dark, sleazy rooms. The Atom ™ remix was the stand out cut for us with a riotous saw driven synth and dark moody, alluring vocals.
