I am an electroacoustic composer who specialises in acousmatic works and sound installations. My works also incorporate interaction, soundscape, improvisation, multichannel surround, sound design and live performance elements. I have an MA in electroacoustic composition and sonic art from Liverpool Hope University. I am currently conducting a practice-based PhD in electroacoustic composition, exploring the concept of ‘homage’ as a device and approach within compositional practice, specifically to highlight and celebrate the music and output of forgotten early women electronic music composers. I also design and deliver sound-based workshops for participants to learn how to compose with sound.

My work has been performed across the Northwest including venues such as the Capstone Theatre, Congleton Town Hall, The Royal Northern College of Music and across Halton Libraires venues (Ditton, Widnes, Runcorn, and Halton Lea Library). My compositions have been featured on the radio, most recently on BBC’s Merseyside’s ‘Folkscene’ programme. I was also a finalist for Liverpool City Region Culture and Creativity ‘Impact Award – Health & Wellbeing’ (2021), for my immersive interactive audio-visual sound installation ‘dɪsˈlɛksɪə ˈɡeɪtweɪ (dyslexia gateway)’, which highlights the dyslexic’s perspective.

Frithland was born in England. He is a Multi-instrumentalist, Composer, and Artist and has been creating electronic music since the late 1990's.

He has been influenced by electronic music from an early age. His Father used to play him Jean Michel Jarre, Tomita and Vangelis records at the tender age of five, in the mid 1970's.

He took an interest in other electronic artists in the 1990’s such as William Orbit, The Chemical Brothers and Orbital. He began playing guitar at a very early age and bass in his teens. In the early 1990's he took an interest in playing rock flute after becoming a fan of bands such as Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Gong, Ozric Tentacles and Peter Gabriel with Genesis.

In the late 1990's he trained for four years in music, at a community college, (where he learnt music theory, composition, music technology, guitar and bass guitar and keyboards,) and later for three years at University, studying popular music. He is currently studying a Masters Degree in electronic music.

He composed his first four studio albums, Ascending, Driven Dreams, Nano and Demons on a home studio. He released these albums on the electronic record label Solar Quantum. He has since moved on and produced four more albums- Reactor, Electro Clock, C1 and Dragging On, with a more progressive feel.

His biggest electronic influences are Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Tomita, Orbital, The Egg, Afro Celt Sound System, The Euphoria series, William Orbit and many more. He finds electronic music quite fascinating and is highly motivated by his musical influences.

He is looking forward to working on his future releases and he knows that wherever it may take him, he will always have a passion for this style of music as it stems from his childhood.
