It's that time again... I've dropped this a day early due to a hectic weekend of gigs and to make sure it's available for your Halloween weekend!

This mix contains 23 tracks that I'm feeling and as always from a variety of genres. I'm rinsing some of these bangers on the dance-floor right now and the others I'm just absolutely in love with.

My mixtape's are my 80 minute journey of music, my way to explore, express and share my passion. From all sub genres of house music to my outro's which usually go deep and downtempo, another kind of music I listen to religiously. 

Searching for the music and then making them literally takes me days and days but mixtape making is something I really love to do. I hope you enjoy them as much as I love making them!

Solid Steel in association with Serato (8th May) This week we welcome Rob Booth for a special Houndstooth label mix and it's a return for Luke Vibert on Solid Steel with a crazy mash-up mix. Rob Booth steps up in Hour 1 with a mix celebrating 2 years of the excellent Houndstooth record label, where he heads up A & R and he also runs the well respected Electronic explorations podcast. Another Falty DL Solid Steel intro starts the show and Rob had this to say about his mix;
“I wanted to present the mix in two parts, the Solid Steel way. The 1st half showcases repertoire primarily from the 1st eighteen months, no better way than starting with our inaugural record, the Present Tense 12” by Call Super, such an exciting artist culminating with his recent critically acclaimed debut album. Of course I also had to include a few tracks from the Soul Music LP, Paul Woolford’s Special Request moniker, especially the Hackney Parrot VIP, coupled with the polished jungle/techno experimentalism of Akkord and the 160bpm mosaic of Throwing Snow.
As the mix enters the 2nd half the emphasis moves to our latest signings, Berlin based Marquis Hawkes, Norwegian duo Soft as Snow and LA duo 18+, who’ve kept us busy this past year with the mix concluding with Jassy Graz on vocals, a personal favourite, was so good to see Ross and Jassy invited to Maida Vale LIVE for Radio 1. I can’t stress enough the privilege of being on SS, I’ve been archiving these shows for so long now”

Tanya Leigh is a DJ, producer, engineer and co-founder of OMEN Recordings. She has an extensive career in the techno scene. It all started at the age of 5 when she studied classical instruments, performed with orchestras, engineered live sound and graduated from college with a degree in Music and a diploma in Recording Engineering. In 1998 she discovered the sound of techno and started supporting events in the Minneapolis underground dance scene. Eventually Tanya learned how to DJ on a pair of Technics turntables around the year 2002. Her growing passion for electronic music caused her to perform several solo DJ performances and from 2009-2016 was 1/2 of the duo known as Complicit, (DJ & Live techno music). The pair performed multiple shows in the US and Canada, and hold a respected discography of tracks released on record labels from the US, Canada, and Mexico. Mossmoss (aka Mattie Bowen) is a Scottish born dj and producer with an intense interest in explorative music. With a keen ear and eye for detail, he is an artist by nature. His wandering sets paint landscapes of light and dark patterns, textures, and strange melody, heavily relying on atmosphere and tension. Mattie's inspiration draws from the organic details of existence, the tiny pieces most overlook in exchange for the big-picture rush of an ever changing modern world. His mind deeply set to explore these facets and to share his exploration in all forms to those that might look and listen. Mossmoss currently resides San Francisco and draws on The City and its colorful nightlife for constant immersive inspiration.

Mossmoss has had the pleasure of setting up some of the most popular underground dance music artists in the world, including Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Marcell Dettmann, Function, Max Copper, Tale of Us, Cari Lekebusch, Todd Terje, Magda, Jooris Voorn, Voices from the Lake, Axel Boman, Kassem Mosse, and Speedy J, among many others. US based artist, Milkplant (Justin William Pennell) is originally from Milwaukee,Wisconsin; but has lived in Oakland, California since 2010.  He relocated to the West Coast in 2004, lived in Seattle for six years, and started the internationally recognized Techno label and artist collective, From 0-1; with fellow artist, Sone.  Schooled in the Midwest and developed on the West Coast, his work encompasses over 30 years of combined DJ/production experience, and 9 years of record label operations.

In autumn 2014 he released 'Time Dilation', a four track 12" EP on From 0-1.  Charted by Gary Beck, Paul Mac, and Ben Sims at #2, #1, and #26 in their November 2014 Juno charts, this was a turning point for him.  Since then he has released on Planet Rhythm, Wall Music, Dark Net, Etichetta Nera, From 0-1, and Excise.  His productions have drawn critical acclaim from many notable artists; showing up in mixes and charts by Ben Sims, Cari Lekebusch, Jerome Sydenham, Bryan Zentz, Joachim Spieth, Tommy Four Seven, Submerge, Tadeo, Mattias Fridell, Mr. Jones, Electric Indigo, David Meiser, Samuli Kemppi, Arnaud Le Texier, Abstract Division, DJ T-1000, and many others.

As a DJ he can be found playing a combination of vinyl and CDJs.  He has played in various cities across the US, most notably in Detroit at the Blank Code - Droid Interface/Scene party for Movement 2016.  His mixes have been featured on Droid's D-Node podcast, the Warsaw Torture Boyz podcast, Blank Code podcast, Drone podcast, and Error Sessions. Komprezzor is not simply another gimmick or project trying to reach for the sky, fame or
mainstream, in the contrary he prefers to stay hidden in the darkest corner of that old abandoned
factory were you once wondered if you even had the guts to step in. The sounds and elements of
his live sets are dark and dirty as if they had been extracted from a piece of literature by Edgar
Alan Poe. Full of white noises and atmospheric riffs the percussive elements are extracted from
classic drum machines; such as the legendary 808, 909, and 303 that slowly morph in to a
hypnotic rhythm. Along with his live sets the Dj sets are also full of some of the dirtiest and darkest
heart pounding Techno, no top 40 will ever make an appearance on his track list, interacting with
up to 4 decks running at the same time and a few drum machines it will make you wonder if a
third arm was present at the time.


2016 has been a game changer for Komprezzor traveling with his modular set up the creativity
flows from beginning to end no presets or patters are preprogrammed before the machines are
turned on, in a way he is merely a medium or translator to the cry of the machines, multiple synth
voices and drum machines interlacing into a one of a kind sound creating and stitching each
element form scratch right on front of the audience eye’s, the result is a fully improvised Techno
mayhem.

Sone is Seattle, Washington based DJ and producer Brian Sonnleitner. His first exploits into live music was being immersed in the underground punk scene in Wisconsin during the mid/late 90's. Fast forward to now, while keeping the same energy and ethos of his early experiences, Brian is a DJ of well over a decade with his sets trending towards the driving and tracky side of techno.

2008 brought Sone into the realm of production with his music exploring a stripped down but heavy sound. His original productions and remixes have received support from Ben Sims, Reggy van Oers, Joachim Spieth, Juho Kusti, TWR72, Soolee, and many others.  His tracks appear on his home label, From 0-1, which he runs with long time friend Milkplant; while surfacing on other labels such as Android Muziq,  Webuildmachines, Rheostatus, and Darknet.

  Brooklyn native John Massey has been attempting to damage eardrums for almost 20 years.  A child of the 80s, John transplanted to Los Angeles as a teen.  There he discovered an emerging underground dance scene and was infected with an interest in electronic music.  John soon founded Sound Rehab Productions, connected with influential local promoters and artists such as Omar Ojeda (Darius Aleksander), Robin Porter, Drumcell, Ron-D-Core, Raiz (Acid Circus) and began coordinating techno events and working the DJ circuit throughout the southern California area.  Today John resides in Seattle.
  John is the kind of unassuming artists that earns respect rather than demands it, keeping his head down and focusing on his craft, trusting his instincts to keep the dance floor moving.  His current set consists of a live/dj hybrid that enables John to creatively blend a wide variety of techno, house, minimal and experimental sounds.  As a producer John tackles a variety of sounds ranging from his previous hip hop efforts under Dysposable Heroes, to his recent techno projects under his own name and previously as Indispensable Villains.  Heʼs affiliated with Seattleʼs From 0-1, a conceptual label which he represents in his various endeavors.  Heʼs released on various labels such as HardSignal, Subspec, From 0-1, Subsensory and his own Sound Rehab Recordings.  No matter the genre he has always enjoyed working with various artists giving him the opportunity to make new friends and take in new influences.  With several new projects on horizon 2018 looks to be a productive year for John so keep look out...
