For Secret Thirteen journal we have worked on a special slowed down techno recording in the spirit of the live sets we have did for Polar Inertia’s recent exhibitions in Brussels and CCA, Tbilisi.

A couple of months ago we have changed all our gear and equipment, and collected new machines but somehow never had enough time to meet altogether and wire them. Finally, we have decided to hook up our new musical gear and equipment to improvise the future of Polar Inertia’s sound.

It was one of those studio jams you do not want to rush to. We took our time. Slowed down the tempo to 112 bpm and sent all synths through a multitrack recorder to catch every moment of the jam session. During hours of knob twisting we went through several states of mind and different styles.

What we are sharing with Secret Thirteen readers is an edited version of what happened that night.

ANFS is the perfoming name of George Anyfantis, an electronic music producer/Dj from Athens. He somehow, somewhere along the way, got sucked into the techno scene and got involved in the co-ownership of Modal Analysis. Having released his debut Ground Ep last year, more releases are scheduled for 2015 on Modal Analysis, his new imprint Vanila and AnD's Inner Surface Records.

Masses over masses try themselves at being a DJ and in the production of techno. Being a newcomer in this overcrowded market doesn't seem appealing at first sight. Putting in a lot of effort to establish one's reputation is not everyone's cup of tea. To stand out of the masses one must buckle down or have the proper Vitamin B. When Vitamins are lacking, what especially counts are a strong will and persistence. Those are guarantors for the opportunity to exhibit one's talent eventually. The rise of Krenzlin followed this principle on one of the surest Newcomer-Floors in the world. After Sebastian Krenzlin started DJing in 2003, it took several years for him to eventually be discovered as a newcomer after his participation at the Tresor Award of Pacou in 2009. Since he played in the Tresor for the first time in September 2010, he is counted among the steady Ensemble of Berlin's legendary club.
With the series of events „New Faces“ and three allies he forms a platform for the performance of new faces. Every first Wednesday in the month he starts his own special event under this flag seeking for new talents who impersonate this spirit.
Even as a producer Krenzlin build up a reputation since 2011. If one reads the list of labels under which he has released since, it is hard to believe that such a fantastic discography can be formed in this short amount of time. With Synewave,Nachtstrom Schallplatten,Driving Forces Recordings,Starkstrom Schallplatten, Mastertraxx Records, Slap Jaxx or IF?Records the best pools for exceptional, underground profiles of techno-acts of the last years string together. In the spring of 2012 a co-production with 88uw and Synewave followed and came like a bombshell exactly like the one countless times before in the Tresor...

Reclaim Your City 147 | UVB (Marseille)

UVB is the pseudonym of the French DJ and producer Sébastien Michel. He grew up with the passion for music and focused his attention on electronic music in 2011 when he first decided to start producing .

In the meantime, he started his DJ project in his home city, Marseille, playing in underground places and delivering his own vision of Techno Music. Late 2012, he worked on several music projects in different styles of electronic music which comforted him in his choice for raw and hard tones.

In 2013, UVB concentrated on his techno project, started to develop his own version of a live which is a dj set only composed of his own productions, and played it at clubs in Berlin (Urban Spree, Tresor). His first EP was released on the Rotterdam based label MORD Records in June 2014 and has been supported by some of the biggest names of the Techno scene such as Surgeon, Marcel Dettmann, Lucy or even Tommy Four Seven. UVB’s sound combines energetics tones with intricate rhythms, and always focuses on a true rave feeling by its functionality and its rawness.

Polar Inertia [ DEMENT3D ] France

This Live set was recorded some time ago at somewhere near Paris. It was a mysterious night, only those who were there know about this.

Polar Inertia is a hazy and oracular entity, that positions itself as a
complex faction whose work is influenced by the sci-fi mythology surrounding techno music.
Since its creation, Polar Inertia multiplies various artistic collaborations, which are gradually incorporated in the thick fog that conceals
dissimulate the exact nature and extent of its activities.
Beyond the music and the records, the members of Polar Inertia are also the authors of texts, photographic works, printed artworks and specific live performances for different context.
They have often been invited to contribute to various revues, editions or art books. Their course of creation thus takes the direction of a polymorphic artistic process, bound to evolve in various fields of contemporary creation.
