Volume 1 of Planetary Assault Systems ʻDeep Heetʼ, released in March 2006, signaled the return of Planetary Assault Systems after a 5-year hiatus. The release of this second volume, exactly 5 years later to the day, marks the culmination of Slaterʼs Planetary Assault Systems tour that began in 2009 with the release of the ʻTemporary Suspensionʼ album on Berlin label Ostgut Ton.

Comprising three state-of-the-art expeditions into deep space techno, Deep Heet Vol. 2 takes techno back to its primitive roots, adding details inspired by yet-to- be-explored points in the galaxy; only visible from Slaterʼs Spacestation Ø UK studio. 
Sucktion opens the EP in glorious style. The basis being a powerfully hypnotic groove, the track evolves steadily, drawing the listener in completely before revealing its subtle, beautifully powerful, harmonic breakdown.

Mechanical and tense, Pow Wow combines the sonic dynamism of hollow reverberating rhythms with oscillating melodic loops which together create a tightly woven groove that ultimately implodes into a shrill explosion of frequencies.

Raid closes out the EP with its shimmering minimalism crafting a calm contrast to the rest of the EP. Pulsing melodies and echoing chimes attract the focus while a heavy flat kick and spurts of firing hats add the necessary dancefloor momentum.

It's the first ep from Evod in Faut Section and it fits perfectly in Lewis Fautzi's vision for his label. 

The italian artist delivers four tracks in which we most notice the cosmic and futuristic sounds, supported by the hard and fierceful surfaces and gritty atmospheres that are part of Evod's personal style. There's a recognizable pattern through the whole EP, event though each part of it is diferent from the others. At different speed rates, Evod shows that dancing is not something we do just with our bodies, but also with our minds.

It is always exciting to promote debuts on Faut Section and Evod has certainly proved that he is more than up to the task that has been assigned to him. Vento Solare EP is a masterpiece.

Julieta Kopp - Antares [MindTrip]

An established sound designer and electroacoustician from Richmond, Virginia active since the mid-2000s, Michael Ferrell lands on From Another Star with studied techno inspired by pioneers like Mills and Mulero. ‘Bridgerton to Terabatha’ leads off, its mood fitting well with the mysterious title as it slowly assembles from revolving bleeps, chirping birdlike sounds, and layers of ambience into a heavier second half when the parts securely interlock. Keeping the uneasy atmosphere and tight composition, ‘Featureless Faces’ steadily builds as textured leads ricochet through echoes, changing pitch, timbre, and texture, with the droning, discordant synth pad adding a soundtrack element. The three-beat rhythm of ‘Human Perfectibility’ thrives on circularity, taking a more optimistic feel that rises to a finale of squealing zaps and fleet-footed percussion programming. A noticeably off-time, clipped cymbal adds tension to the title track, rubbing uneasily against the nimble arrangement that grows increasingly dense with each passing bar. Closer ‘Tribalism’ is the most rugged of all, its metallic shell and pulsating bass evoking industrial and mechanical feelings with hints of submerged violence.
