What Would William Morris Say? is the opening track of the album England Green & England Grey - by Reg Meuross www.regmeuross.com.  
Reg explains "I wrote this song in response to the arts cuts, specifically to the Rural Touring Network, which I thought was one of the best Arts Council initiatives ever. Rural Touring brought subsidised entertainment to the village halls of Britain. Suddenly international and otherwise unaffordable shows became accessible to people in rural communities without having to travel to town and pay the extortionate ticket, parking and travel fees required. I did many shows from Cornwall to Cumbria and beyond, and I saw how this form of entertainment helped to revitalise communities. The village hall, once the village centre, was becoming so again. 
Then came the cuts. My local Rural Touring network which served over 70 villages in the Somerset area  had its grant cut 100%, and this was happening all over the country. It wasn’t by chance that this coincided with the Olympic Games being staged in London which went tens of millions over budget. The money had to come from somewhere.
William Morris was a late 19th century Artist, designer, poet, textile designer, stained glass maker and social activist. His influence and ideas were fundamental to the Arts & Crafts movement and he is recognised as one of the most significant cultural figures of Victorian Britain. He believed passionately in good social values, and in usefulness and beauty in all man made things. I wondered what he might think of Britain now as it is more increasingly fashioned by greed, political corruption and corporate power."

The charity The Amber Foundation was chosen by Jess Vincent "My song is about missing someone special at Christmas, many people feel the strain more than usual of loved ones lost at Christmas, especially when in my case, this was of the most important and happiest days of the year for her. 
I chose Amber Foundation because its an amazing local scheme to me which sets up the next steps for young people who haven't been given the best start by a long shot. I hear all the time how the hardest step is joining everyone else, leaving the past behind and building a solid foundation for your life, with jobs and families and friends. Amber does all these things to ensure young poeple get the best possible help, and this is all the more important when we are sitting in our warm house with our families and presents on Christmas day, aware that many people don't have any of these luxuries, let alone a roof over their heads on a day that is supposed to bring everyone together and spread good will and cheer."

I was interviewed last year by Steve Randall from Communication Generation about 'my story' for a business podcast. The podcast is not being made now but here's what would have been my episode. In telling my story I can see how everything I have done in my circuitous journey of life has come full circle and is completely relevant to what I do now. 

My story includes training as an interpreter, working in publishing, management consultancy and design, traveling the world for two years, losing my best friend and my Father within a few weeks and how that inspired with my passion for positive touch and retraining as a massage therapist, creating and running a pioneering training for massage in pregnancy and setting up the aromatherapy company Vital Touch, discovering songwriting, writing songs and getting into running songwriting events and workshops (formerly LondonSongCo and now Company Of Song)and eight years ago founding fromthewhitehouse which is what I do now, representing amazing musicians who I believe make a difference in this strange and wonderful world we live in. 

I forgot to mention I used to be a gymnast, so that's in the photo :)
