A piece that probably recall a mix of different influences,also maybe fleetingly my enjoyment of tango in style of Piazzolla, that I like for being so lively, passionate and tragic at the same time.The thought of the title went to a kindred of mine playing accordion long long time ago...

The Path Of Mirages

The idea for this piece and lyrics was initially born from trying to describe that particular moment when our mind is going to surrender to sleep, ready to break its mooring from things and events of the day and external world and it's getting ready  and open to enter in its own deeper world...
Sometimes, in that moment, in that passage, in that limbo,  something quite special and magic may happen... a flash of inspiration may suddenly lights, an idea, a decision, an answer, a consciousness, 
sudden and unexpected, from who knows where...sometimes the inspiration of a melody, a music, a notes sequence... 
From that initial cue the lyrics took on a more globally existential meaning.

like wet paint on a canvas
but just before the outlines fade 
away down the tunnel 
a new vision's flashing on 
sharp contours and perfect colours 

here is the light now 
here is the magic 
here are the answers 
here is the strength now 
here is the gateway 
here is the consciousness 

It's time to decide now 
the path is lit up 
too little time to be pure 
too much  to be damned 
there's nothing to return to 
and no one who returns 
and you know there's only one way to fly

A semi-serious, ironic and auto-ironic piece about regrets, thinking that often they become the same of monsters in our mind.
In the final, the subway sounds were recorded personally on the subway of Milan (curiously  the speaker announcing the stop "Duomo, fermata Duomo" is audible too) and it simbolized that they (monsters and regrets) don't course us only at nighttime but they are always with us.

With the precious collaboration of my friend Rosalie, helping me to correct the translation.
