Putin has launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the goal of which he claims is not to occupy the country but to “demilitarize” and “de-Nazify” it. We've no reason to put blind faith in any of those claims. Only time will tell.

As of this writing dozens have reportedly been killed so far. All war is horrific. We can only hope that this one winds up being the least horrific a war can be.

After following each other in differing capacities, both musically and visually, the two have connected for the new Handstitched* release "Architectures Of Light". As with all good collaborations, Seaman and Spera found a method that worked best for their musical-output, an organic flow and process that allowed the songs to breathe naturally with time and space.

Sending each other libraries of potential ideas, then building up layers of sounds, adding to each other's work as time progressed. Multiple iterations created by each artist on the album formed the audible backbone and it was added-to, and/or broken-down to form alternative viewpoints, resulting in moments of slowly formed movements which evolve without escaping the focus of the audience's attention.

There is a depth in the work of Seaman and Spera that is noticeable in the form of languages and interpretation, using found-sound, evocative vocal samples from past archives and degraded/fluctuating tape loops. Two songs have accompanying visual works, one produced by Seaman and one by Spera, both videos marry the visual and musical language found inside the music with dream-like and organic representations for each respective work.

Bill Seaman & Stephen Spera - Architectures Of Light [S4mpl3r]

Graziano Capezzoli, the other half of the 80s Italo duet Edy Band, is back with a brand new track called “Toward The Light”. The idea for the track came from Juan Segundo and Kimmo Salo, but the final result wouldn’t be the same without Graziano’s wonderful work for the vocals, as a composer and the singer. The goal was to produce something that would have the soul of the Tuscan small budget Italo productions, something that would capture the Tuscan Italo sound of the mid 80s. The vinyl has two different mixes with slightly different sounds and mix, and the “New Mix” also has lovely female back vocals by Anita Campagnolo (better known as a vocalist of “New Sin”).

The vinyl is pressed on black vinyl only, in a traditional way.

It includes a new “Gogol Bordello” track Teroborona (Civil Defense) recorded in the early days of the war.
Also included in the compilation is the song Mandry “Towers”, recorded on the phone, during combat duty to defend Kyiv.
Compilation includes unique material of the legendary bands of the Ukrainian indie scene: Dakhabrakha, Dakh Daughters, Grozovska Band, Hudaki Village Band, Mama Diaspora, Perkalaba, created during the struggle of Ukraine for freedom and independence. All proceeds from the release will be used to support Ukraine.
