Em’s relation with music started at a very young age, when she could barely talk but could play the piano by ear. Later on she started learning music through singing and the violin, and discovered electronic music. Since then, Em’s ability to create musical journeys were made especially for her friends, to make them smile and travel throughout her sets in private parties and in events around Montréal.

Through colourful builds of house sub-genres, Crescenzo accompanies his listeners on their own journey, driving them through high-energy sets full of discoveries and timely gems. Ascending pieces of deep, melodic, prog and tech house find each other in his world, to form unique dancefloor experiences. He is clear on his goals: immerse audiences into sound, provoke vibrant reactions, embrace and explore change, and find those small details that ignite a listener's attention. He knows where to push, where to pull, where to test, and where to build and build until finally, the peak is reached and we may contemplate the moment before we start over again.

Julie/Anne, a passionate music lover and a very talented emerging artist from the Montreal underground music scene. Born out of the underground through the encounter of the prog and the techno. This brought her in 2015 to get into djing, and she did it her way by only following her strong intuition and musical sense and most of all by self-teaching herself.

As 2020 was turning out to be a nightmare for many of us, Julie/Anne (CAN) rose to the occasion, leaving an indelible mark in music lovers’ hearts. Back in February 2020, after she literally floored everyone at Velvet Speakeasy (a well-known venue in Montreal), she continued spreading her love of music in many ways, as everything was shutting down. She made her mark with her FB live sessions, recorded collabs with Paris (France), Oslo (Norway), collaborated with SuperSonic Gin to curate an amazing Spotify playlist featuring local electronic productions as well as being invited on AfterHours.FM. Julie/Anne has also a passion in lending a hand to help great causes. That’s why she is involved with FK en Musique, a non-profit organisation that raises awareness and funds to help cure Cystic Fibrosis by sharing musical experiences. She is implicated not only as a DJ, but also as an artistic director, marketing consultant (as she has over 20 years of experience in that domain) and member of the board of direction. One of her biggest accomplishments so far, has been the opportunity to open for Eekkoo (Canadian producer - mau5trap) at Piknic Electronik in July 2021, the most sought out summer event in Montreal. When dancefloors shortly reopened again in November 2021, she had the privilege to be invited at Salon Daomé, Espac3 and Nhau bar.

As she never stops evolving, Julie/Anne recently decided to pair up with producer Lilla Støv and is currently working on her first productions. |Wolken| is now available on all digital platforms and received early support from Hernan Cattaneo.

In terms of musical styles, Julie/Anne does not define herself as a “one genre” DJ. She creates sound journeys that weave various textures and sounds, whether they come from the melodic house, dark progressive, even organic and afro sides. As a true artist, she crafts her sets according to the desired ambiance, but always with her unique storytelling. If you are lucky enough to attend one of Julie/Anne’s gigs, you will rapidly find that she’s a true, authentic, and very passionate artist who just loves to perform live in front of music lovers from everywhere. There’s just an indescribable energy about her that makes you ask for more.

Here is the live recording of my set at this year’s Front Republic festival. 

That gig is definitely one of my highlights of this past Summer. Front Republic is such an incredible festival and at the heart of its success is its community. I still remember how responsive, attentive and passionate the crowd was during my set. It brings back such great memories and puts a smile on my face when I remember all the familiar faces and new ones I met during that day. The energy of the crowd during my set was phenomenal and even though I only had 1 hour and ½ to write a musical story, I found a way to play the unexpected and it was amazing. Two of my unreleased tracks are found in there, which will both be released early in 2023. I truly hope you’ll enjoy this musical journey as much as I enjoyed writing it.

I'm super happy to be able to share this recording with you, from what was one of my favourite musical gatherings of the year last year. So many friends and familiar faces as well as new beautiful people, all dancing barefoot in the sand with such an amazing energy having connected through breathwork, yoga, ceremony, river swims, and 2 days of shared festival energy and music. I picked things up from Horla and Aura Jade who did a great job building an amazing uplifting energy through the sunny Sunday afternoon. I started playing at 4pm when the sun was still bathing the dancefloor, the sky mostly clear, no worrying signs of the storm on the forecast. After about an hour of fun, dark clouds started rolling in, hiding the sun and bringing with it super strong winds and a total downpour. The canopy over the dancefloor started billowing, the people started going wild, howling and screaming, dancing like crazy, giving all their energy back to the storm through the music, surrendering completely to the moment! After some time the storm started to settle and we started floating. As we landed at the end of my time, the setting sun started to poke through the rain clouds and Opposite Direktion took over and closed the stage with an awesome performance. It's an evening I know I will remember for a long time and am so grateful have shared and co-created with all the amazing people there.

Many thanks to the FrontRite crew for having me and to all the beautiful dancers for sticking with me and vibing through the storm. I hope you enjoy listening!

So happy to share this mix for so many reasons. 

Front republic is where my journey all started three years ago. On that day, the founder and my friend Anthony Durbano went out on a limb a let me touch the big stage for the first time and since that day there has been no looking back. One of those life-changing moments to which I owe my life to. 

FRP is a microcosm for what accepting our inner beauty is all about. 
It is unapologetically it's self. 
It does is best, and it's best is far from perfect, and that what I love about it. All that really matters about it is that it comes from a place of love, passion and our intention. I hope to show up like this festival does to its participants. Doing my best and simply being myself. 

Coming straight from the burn to this campground was perfect. Most importantly, my creative juices were going crazy. This daytime mix represents my style in many ways. A smorgasbord of different styles and flavours tightly packed into a 90minute musical ride.  The sun came out then the rain & then the sun again, my brain and the weather synced up in a dance of confused bliss.  

Thank you to everyone who put their souls into putting this gathering together. Elle, Tony & Durbz you all rock. Longue vie à l'endroit en avant droite du dance floor ;)

Recorded live at Montreal's Front Republic Festival on September 8th, Davian was accompanied by Fotos on live guitar as they opened the day with a beautiful set. 

Their performance perfectly set the vibe for Fabian Krooss, Kora, and Reg Ina, who performed after. Davian and Fotos' sounds blended together in perfect harmony—their chemistry was undeniable. Live at Front Republic Festival x Koala Karnival (Closing Ambient Set) ~ 09.09.24

For the launch of our very first Front Radio, we're kicking things off with none other than Guillaume Michaud, a name that’s been making serious waves across Montréal’s dancefloors. For the occasion, Guillaume shares the first 2 hours of that landmark Stereo debut. Expect groove, intention, and a whole lot of heart in this month’s mix.

2025 has already been a landmark year for Guillaume. From stepping into the role of assistant choreographer on Star Académie to headlining Stereo for the first time, a long-time dream come true, he’s been moving with purpose both on stage and behind the decks.

Looking ahead, August is stacked. He’ll be heading to Ontario to play Camp Summerdaze, a music, wellness and art gathering happening the first weekend of the month. Back in town, he joins Fierté Montréal with a debut T DANCE set at the Olympic Stadium on August 10. That same evening, he’ll close the celebrations with his signature all-night set for Les Beaux Dimanches at Stereobar, his personal favourite gig of the year.

Front Radio 001 - Guillaume Michaud - Stereo, June 27th 2025

Mike Chidiac has been part of Montreal’s underground since his early years—dedicated to the craft, present in the community, and constantly building. He’s developed a style rooted in long, immersive sets and a sound that’s rolling, trippy, and percussive. 2025 has been a breakthrough year. He kicked it off with an all-night-long set at Stereobar in January, followed by his official Stereo debut in July, where he opened for James Zabiela. Both moments marked important steps for someone who’s been putting in the work behind the scenes for a long time.

Off the dancefloor, Mike launched his own venue, NWHR, where he also built a custom sound system from the ground up—a project that reflects his deeper commitment to creating spaces where music is front and center. Next up is his debut on the Arder lineup this August. Though he’s been close to the crew for a while, this will be his first time officially joining the night and sharing another side of his sound. 

His persistence is carving out a well-deserved place in the scene.

Homegrown Heroes #001 - Guillaume Michaud

Julie/Anne is a DJ established in Montreal and has been in the scene for many years. She played back in February at Velvet Speakeasy alongside Guillaume Michaud.

SEED : Her first gig was at the Salon Daomé in 2016 where she opened for Alex Gragnani of Imagine Records. Afterwards, Julie/Anne played in many underground events.

ROOTS : Julie/Anne biggest influences comes from melodies of Tel Aviv with original productions and smash remixes from Shai T and she also adores the progressive influences from label Balkan Connection.

Homegrown Heroes #003 - Julie/Anne

Quintana, who hails from Venezuela and is established here in Montreal, is a prominent DJ that played sets at major events in Venezuela, Colombia, Portugal, the US and Canada. He has played alongside Paul Van Dyk at Valencia Fest and he played here at Salon Daome. As an electronic music producer, Quintana's sound is recognized by his pulsating basslines and his acid stabs.

“ My first gig was back in 2012 at Sophia Club in Venezuela. Back then, I was playing Trance Music and I remember that the atmosphere was incredible.“ - Quintana

“ My interests are always evolving but currently my biggest influence is an Italian artist called Ness. I like him because he has his own signature, his own sound. His sound is deep, groovy with some psy elements.“ - Quintana

Homegrown Heroes #005 - Quintana

Larose and Fabre are DJs from Québec, they are working together to bring a new flow in the House & Techno scene.

Fabre, who was born in Paris, played in the underground scene of Toronto and Hamilton Ontario at Funhaus, Comfort Zone, Guvernment, Up Lounge, Cds nightclub and at multiple underground events in secret places.

Larose born in Alberta, played in multiple clubs in Québec, Dj resident of Le Drague nightclub, L’éclipse, Kaméleon as well as Electronic music events: Funkhouser show, Le Cercle events and Monique la nuit record label. His melodic and underground vibe of House and Techno made him well known for his grooves.

SEED:

Fabre's first big event was when he played on the new talent Stage at the WEMF 2006 (World electronic music festival) in Tweed Ontario for a 100% Vinyl techno set.

Brian Cuta is a well established DJ from Montreal. Brian has a residency at Velvet speakeasy called 'The Groove Shack' and he closed the FrontRite takeover event at Piknic Électronik last year. He also helps out with frontrite on the backend.

Kev Sunshine is a Montreal artist very well known in the Techno scene here. He played in many places like New City Gas, Le Salon Daome, and Newspeak just to name a few. Kev joined the Symbios team last year as their main resident and he played alongside some of the big names of the industry like Sam Paganini, Julian Jeweil and Laidback Luke.

SEED: 
"My first big gig has to be Canada Day 2019 when I was replacing Marco Bailey at Newspeak. That was such an epic moment, the crowd was one of a kind and I think it must be one of my best shows so far. I am so grateful I had this opportunity." - Kev Sunshine

"My biggest influence at the moment I would say is Belgian duo BolsteR. I find their style is very dark, melodic and energetic just like mine so they are having a lot of influence on my productions lately." - Kev Sunshine

DJ kärl k-otik is a veteran in the Montreal trance scene. His main style is progressive trance but he also plays progressive and techno sets! Kärl has been playing at numerous venues such as îleSoniq, Bal en Blanc, Beachclub, Escapade Music Festival, AIM Music Festival, New City Gas, Circus Afterhours and (((stereo))).

“After playing multiple private partys and small gigs, I got my first real opportunity at MadNad partys in 2012 (private partys with more than 1000 ravers). This booking paved the way to my first Bal en Blanc in 2014 (with Markus Schulz & Ferry Corsten).” - kärl

“Tiësto and Armin van Buuren were my first big influences in the early 2000s. Now I have to say that Markus Schulz and his Coldharbour "techy dark" sound is my main influence.” - kärl

Homegrown Heroes #012 - DJ Kärl K - Otik

Alex Borzych is a Montreal-based Canadien DJ and Producer.
She began her musical journey at the age of 8 as a violinist and played guitar since she was 15. For many years, Alex was involved in the psy trance scene in Montreal until she found her passion for Techno music. Having played Illusion Festival, the SATosphere & Salon Daomé, MTL's techno scene is familiar with Alex's sound. Alex played alongside acts like Stephanie Sykes & VTSS in Self- produced events at Le Livart & Entrepôts Dominion. In the present, she is working on her music production and her goal is to release her debut EP in the coming year.

Victor Rodriguez is a resident DJ for Deep Therapy, Velvet Speakeasy and Nhau bar.
He played in many cities such as Mexico city, Tulum, Toronto, Ottawa and in Montreal. Victor also took part of 'PY1 Nights - Underworld' and opened for artists such as Behrouz, Adysin and Mark Alow just to name a few.

"Thinking back, my first gig was at an old party called 'Sway' that I put together with old friends in Ottawa. We were a small collective doing DIY events across the city. I started off as one of the event producers but after a couple of shows, I got the chance to have the spotlight behind the decks, I think that's when I fell in love with controlling a crowd's energy." - Victor Rodriguez

ROOTS :

"Deep therapy is definitely a source of inspiration to me. My first experience at Deep Therapy blew me away. At the time they were doing small club shows and I instantly became a major supporter. Over time, the event scaled up and I took a larger role in their project, both as an artist and an event organizer. I would say Deep Therapy gave me the opportunity to expand my curiosity into deep house music." - Victor Rodriguez

Alex Pycke is a DJ based in Montreal very well known in the Techno scene for his cutting edge sound. He played in places such as Stereo, StereoBar, Piknic Electronik, Igloofest and AIM festival.

"My very first time playing outside my basement was in a little venue under Marché Bonsecours for a small after-Igloofest party in 2015. The party was called “Igloowarmer” with Jay Newtone but my first gig at a club was with FrontRite! "My biggest inspiration of all time is Danny Tenaglia. He’s the DJ that has inspired me the most throughout my entire career. Homegrown Heroes #016 - Alex Pycke

Don Mescal is a DJ that has been involved and playing in the scene for 20 years. Inspired by folkloric multiculturalism, he loves to experiment with the traditions of world music and his musical voyage combines a selection of a myriad of styles from Folktronica, Rub-a-Dub, Jungle & Tribal with a joyfully flamboyant vibe. 

He has toured around the world and got crowds dancing in clubs and festivals such as Boomtown, Burning Man and Eclipse Festival. Don is also the co-founder of Cosmovision Records, a music label and collective created by a mix of artists from various countries.

"I have a hard time remembering where exactly was my first gig because it was a very long time ago but it was in a small bar in the French city of Lyon. My live performances that marked my memories are definitely the time I played at Burning Man, Boomtown Festival and Piknic Electronik." -Don Mescal

Mike Haddad is a local DJ with a lot of notoriety in the industry, his unique deep style. In the last 5 years Mike played at places in the city such as StereoBar, Velvet, Stereo, Newspeak, Piknic Electronik and played in other cities like Toronto, Los Angeles, Vancouver and San Francisco. The thing he is the most proud of is being able to make a crowd move and to create special moments.

Lau H is a Montreal based DJ who ventures into various styles of Techno. Lau's always been on the discovery of new artists and textures in sound and now she is translating that into her sets. Her Homegrown Heroes set is composed by gems that every Techno lover should listen to. Lau manages the Homegrown Heroes Podcast and she works for FrontRite to reunite music and souls.

Abverb is a DJ from Montreal that recently moved to Playa Del Carmen after the second lock down period. He is now living there where he manages and hosts underground events in Playa del Carmen and Tulum. In the last years, he has played in many local clubs such as Newhaus, Velvet Speakeasy, Salon Daomé and Newspeak. Abverb is also known in the Montreal scene for co-hosting private events in collaboration with ‘TURNT’, D.N.P and The Last One Standing.

SKYPOLAR is a Montreal based DJ that has a mission to create a state of presence in music by balancing chaos and order.
He started his DJ career at a young age and since that he has been mixing in quite a lot of venues. SKYPOLAR used to be a part of a duo called Ten Skyes that was playing Electro House, Bass House and Dubstep music. He played in venues such as Beach Club, Le Cinq, Muzique, MTelus, Theatre Berri and more recently at ‘FrontRepublic’, our latest event.

Homegrown Heroes #25 - SKYPOLAR

CinqMars is a DJ based in Montreal that plays Progressive music and Techno. His passion for underground music was born a few years ago, at Stereo Afterhours, after seeing Hernan Cattaneo for the first time. CinqMars is the co-founder of the brand ‘L'énergie’ that hosts underground music events in Montreal. He has played in venues such as Circus, Redroom, La Shop and in a lot of private parties that he co-hosted this summer like ‘By the River’, ‘Boca Beats’ and ‘Techno Shamanism’.

“My first gig was at Circus Afterhours. I remember being so happy to be playing on such a powerful sound system! It was a very special moment for me because Circus was one of the first clubs I discovered in Montreal's nightlife scene.” - CinqMars
