In the UK Midlands of late 1988, shortly after the second Summer of Love, a 15 year old schoolboy, already immersed in Acid House and Detroit Techno, reads in one of the pretentious London-centric mags he devours each month about a new sound which could be the next big genre.  It's called New Beat, and it comes, of all places, from Belgium. This makes him pay attention -  he spent every summer holiday of his youth in one of the country's resorts, and had vague memories of stark, pounding electronic music emanating from club doorways late at night.

He makes a trip from his suburban home into the city centre determined to find some examples of this new music. After a lot of searching he comes up trumps: a compilation album called 'New Beat - Take 1'. He buys it on the spot and takes it home to listen to. As with most albums he's ever bought, he feels slightly cheated, after a couple of good tracks there's a fair bit of filler, and certainly no overriding 'sound' other than a somewhat slow and Euro Pop centric approach to House. Nothing like the aural fingerprint of Acid or Techno. But...

Some of the tracks pique his interest. They have a dark, early 80s synth heavy sound which reminds him of both the Synth Pop of his youth, and the mysterious music filtering out of those Belgian clubs as a child...

He has to wait till the very end of the album for the best of these - a track called 'Flesh' by A Split Second. The fascinating sleeve notes of the L.P. tell the story of how an already banging tune in the established Belgian style of 'Electronic Body Music' was played at the wrong speed (33 1/3 and +8 on the Technics deck) by an Antwerp DJ called Fat Ronny. The club went wild, and a new genre was born - Belgian producers trying to replicate the slower groove and dark timbres of this fateful bit of serendipity. The UK schoolboy gets more than a little obsessed by the tune...

The lad in question went on to form a career in dance music production, and after 25 years has decided to revisit this important and very personal piece of nostalgia, fashioning a complete, respectful and sample free rework of the track based on it's 'go slow' speed. 

This one is for the music mad schoolkid in all of us...

Being based in Lithuania Suffused Music has always looked to support all the most promising up and coming talent their country has to offer. The 32nd release on the label features the debut of Lithuanian producer 'Eugene Loner'. In the past having worked with fellow countryman 'Minou' this is Eugene Loner's debut as a solo artist. His first EP for Suffused Music is entitled 'Dreamcatcher' and it comes with four brand new original productions. It's an aptly titled release as Loner's dreamy, melodic sound is certainly well represented here. The title track sets the tone for the entire EP with its emotionally stimulating melodies and clever beats. A set of rolling bass stabs lays down a hearty foundation while the intricate drums solidify the bouncy groove. The real beauty comes once the harmonic subtleties get woven into the mix. Heartfelt key sequences, sweeping harmonics and a wavering hypnotic resonance carry the piece through a smooth and passionate journey. If you're a fan of deeply, emotional electronic music that's still got a great dance floor sense about it then there's no reason you shouldn't love all the cuts on this EP. Keep an eye on Eugene Loner as 2014 progresses because there is much more to come. - Release Promo

Eugene Loner proved his ability to creating momentums with his last EP called 'Dreamcatcher' on Suffused Music. This time he slow down a bit, and shows the chilling side of his talent at Suffused Polarities with a 4-tracker, 'Street Lights' EP.
'Dancing Ganesha' uses India's traditional sounds, like tabla and sitar to create a meditative place for almost 7 minutes.
'Fly Away' operates with a melancholic melody structure, laying on a characteristic, calm string.
'Street Lights' as the title track leads us through the world of floating textures mixed with atmospheric breaks.
'Sunset Dance' can be described as a slow, 4/4 beats driven tune, dropping an optimistic, sunny feel with the played synth notes. - Greyloop

After teaming up with the likes of Kittball, Déepalma founder @yvesmurasca returns to his own imprint presenting his new single ‚Right On’, with German Tech House masters @piemont and label regular Juloboy (julo-p) providing enchanting remixes.

Yves Murasca’s multifaceted style of house music stands tall on the international circuit, drawing from a myriad of musical elements spanning house to tech to deep and back. This German musical linchpin has cultivated his craft over years of experience; equally as at home in the studio as he is in the club behind the decks.

’Right On’ now sees him deliver his first strike in the new year, a smooth and warm summertime number that pairs a deep moody bassline with stabby chords and an impassioned vocal. 

Germany’s renowned duo Piemont (Toolroom, Glasgow Underground, Exploited) from Hamburg then present a trippy remix with infectious groove built on shuffling hats, flying arpeggios and twisted vocal effects, before Déepalma regular Juloboy lays down a deep balearic cut composed of chilled low-ends and soothing chords.

Yves Murasca ‘Right On’ drops on Traxsource on 3rd of March. The official release on all platforms worldwide is taking place on 17th of March 2017.
