On Sunday, @solarsf took us on an otherworldly late night journey at Messy Beaucoup. Chugging techno, dark wave, and experimental textures; Solar set the stage for an epic, musical rabbit hole.

Campout Series: Solar

This song was finished after 6 hours by using Renoise and several VST´s like Gladiator, Predator, Absynth and many more. I decided to create a fast, dark and danceable track. Thats very unusal for me. I hope you like it anyway.

The song is completely unmastered and very rough. The voice sample was taken from the german movie 'Wir sind die Nacht'.

We Are The Night (Raw Mix)

This track was made with only one module being used for sound. Enter the Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas! Yes every single sound you hear was made with only the Basimilus Iteritas module and then sequenced and recorded one sound at a time. I would then make another sound one at a time and just keep layering(recording) until I had enough parts for this song. It did an amazing job at coming up with every part I needed. A very versatile module I was really impressed with its sonic pallet! I started with the kick then snare, then hihats etc and so on. There was noo filters or any other sound manipulator used only an ADSR for some modulation and the Basimilus with a eurorack sequencer. There is the melody the sounds like a filter was used but that was just me tweaking the 'morph' knob(brilliant!). I recorded into Digital Performer and did add some FX for flavor but no EQ so you can here the tone coming out from the module. I did add a little compression on the master bus to make everything to stick together in the mix . Also to note I used Expert Sleepers to sync my eurorack modular to my DAW and it worked very well(great stuff!).

Anti Error at 32c3

In anticipation of Atom™ and Tobias' tour of the US over the next two weekends (July 29 - Stereo Montreal, July 30 - The Bunker New York,  August 5 - Surface Tension SF, and August 6 - Lunar Lodge Colorado), we dug up this set, recorded at The Bunker New York showcase at Anthology at The Works in Detroit on May 25, 2015.  This three hour live and improvised set of hypnotizing mind control music closed out Movement weekend in epic fashion.  The room was still packed when they finished at 6am.

da sitzt euer Käpt’n https://soundcloud.com/rolandson auf dem Oberdeck seiner schwimmenden Nussschale und zwirbelt sich den Bart. Etwas nachdenklich und am Gin nippend beobachtet er die seichten Wellen und lässt seine Gedanken https://soundcloud.com/endlos_official weit übers Meer schweifen. Was seiner Tage gerade ganz gut geht, da weder Sturm noch meterhohe Wellen ihnen im Weg sind - Poseidon scheint Sommerurlaub zu haben und lässt somit die Ozeane ruhen. 

So schweifen die Gedanken über den ruhigen Ozean und wandeln sich hier und da in Klangwellen um, mal bei einer kleinen Feierei am Strand, mal unter Deck und ein anderes Mal gar auf einer Wiese in Franken. Und genau dort kreuzten sich vor genau einem Jahr die Seewege von https://soundcloud.com/fraukreis und mir. Seitdem ist eine Menge Wasser vom Himmel gefallen und die Bäche sind hinab ins Meer geflossen und die Sarah hat sich mittlerweile in der Hafenstadt zu Berlin an der Spree, bei den Vögeln von https://soundcloud.com/amselcom eingenistet. Hin und wieder spielen wir gemeinsam zum Tanze auf und hecken neue Pläne aus - so auch diesen hier, nämlich den zweiten Teil der »endlos. weit - Reihe« - eine klitzekleine Hommage an die Crew aus Heidelberg, wo Sarah sozusagen ihre Wurzeln hat - zu veröffetlichen.
Euer Käpt’n mag ihren deepn Sound und erfreut sich von jeher an ihrer ausgewogenen und immer erstklassigen Track-Selection … welche sie mitunter bei Gigs im Kater Blau oder in Lima unter großartigen Beweis gestellt hat.

Nun, junge Frau, ich freu mich wie ein bärtiger alter Käpt’n sich nur freuen kann, dich endlich offiziell an Bord begrüßen zu können - und ihr da, ihr macht alles klar zum musikalischen Entern - AYE und abgehört.

It’s a slow sort of death, I think.
I’m trying to hold your particles, but my clumsy hands are too big.
Watching you erode, but not in peace. 

A slow burn, a steady breath, escaping your parted lips. You look into my eyes longingly. Frantically. Panicked. 
In a moment, I realize you never learned how to let the air back in.

It’s a slow sort of death, I think… but we are all dying, aren’t we? Couldn't we just figure out a way to do it together?

Maybe someday, in the far future, they’ll dig us up and find our bones intertwined.

Knowledge and Ignorance

A song I did in 1997 using an Ensoniq ESQ-1 for sounds and sequencing (8 tracks), and an EMU ESI32 sampler. 

Nearly all the sounds and samples were created from scratch except for a few drums. 

The liquid sounds are sounds I created on the ESQ-1.   Curtis chips, and analog filters! 

Mixed on the fly direct from ESQ-1 to single track DAT. (Might cut some parts out- it's a bit over-long.)

When we asked @marco_shuttle if he wanted to podcast an excerpt of his all night set from Public Records in February, he responded that he really wanted to publish the whole set start to finish. so here you have it, nearly 6 hours of Marco playing to the very intimate dancefloor at The Bunker Limited at Public Records in Brooklyn. This set is quite a bit different than what you might normally hear him play at a big techno club or festival, and we're thrilled to present this side of Marco's sound.
