Over the past year, Gerra & Stone have become one of the most exciting duos to take the genre’s forefront. Featuring across Ram and Program’s discography, they’re creating their own space, one held firmly by tight production standards and a refreshing musicality, seldom seen in newly emerging talent. 

The single appeals to a diverse group of music listeners. Whether across the subs of London’s haunts, or the headphones of any technical music listener, these next two sonic cuts pedestal not only their understanding of a diverse sound design, but also their ability to conquer it. 

‘Dnt U’ is a riddim which cuts and swerves between cascading breaks and instantly recognisable drum patterns. The junglist influences are given a stockiness by an LFO bassline and distortion, falling between amen and quaking sub. It shows a clear persona etched out by the two producers, one which has made them instantly recognisable from the outset. 

The next up, ‘Chicago’ also brings an old school vibe whilst utilising more contemporary techniques. Flipping beat patterns draw you in, whilst metallic percussion drives you forward at an incredible speed. Switching up, it then drags you down a corridor of fluctuating bass notes and snapping hi-hats. 

Adding a second instalment to an already impressive entree, this next output from the outfit prove their path is about to take another ascent. And with exciting new talent to come from the imprint… Once again, it’s time to get with the Program! 



Gerra & Stone - Chicago


LSN mark the last release of 2015 with two stunning drum and bass incarnations. LSN made their debut appearance with a DnB track called Diyumi, which was featured on the smash hit album Live From The Future Extended edition. Diyumi was on constant rotation by some of the biggest names in bass music and quickly turned the spot light in LSN’s direction.

Double Edge

Double Edge has an old school flavour and takes shape with poignant kick drums, a haunting guitar riff and driving groove. Its intensity builds with anthemic bleeps and indistinguishable vocal chatter; key components in the composition, which is one of great detail with very thought out arrangement. Many sections change the direction of the track cohesively and intelligently, consistently keeping energy level to an optimum, constantly reinforced by the catchy baseline and deep heavy subs.

Walkyman

Tribal swingy beats, feedback distortion and harmonic vocals set the atmospheric foundations. Walkyman drops tough, but with a minimalist almost nuero approach to the bass work. Walkyman builds pressure with alarm like melody and crunchy midrange elements carving out their own groove in unison. The track is so intense and suspenseful, it compliments Double Edge perfectly and shows another string to the LSN bow.

After receiving 10/10 reviews by some of the biggest producers and blogs in the bass community, Philly-based producer Architekt teams up again with Impossible Records to bring you a deadlier and dirtier version of his latest EP, Deadly Styles.  
 
Receiving countless requests for a VIP of the slow building introduction dubbed 'Monolith,’ Architekt couldn't resist and jumped right into this remix adding extra punch and crunch to this banger of a track. He topped it off with a second super crispy drop forging a more dynamic tune. He's also included remixes by Impossible Records all-stars Phenom, Gravitrax and We Bang x Mister Black who bring a whole new take on the tracks 'Deadly Styles' and 'Ready to Blow'. From hard-hitting, highly energised dance floor cuts to lo-fi, emotively powerful soundscapes, this is the ever-evolving world of Deft. 'Bellyboy' EP is his second release for Ivy Lab's 20/20 LDN label. The title track features 18 year old, London based lyricist Buchannan, mostly known for his previous work with Kai Whiston (Big Dada) as well as his releases on Brainfeeder affiliate PBDY’s TAR in Los Angeles.

“It’s been just over two years now since ‘Blackest’ EP was released, and since then I’ve been writing a lot of music in this vein; experimenting and acquainting myself with new techniques and sounds to further refine and adapt my output. ‘Bellyboy EP’ is a good representation of the past year musically, and the direction these experimentations have taken Deft. ‘Bellyboy’ sees my second vocal feature to date with the very talented Buchannan”.

Yip Wong aka Deft has become an immediately recognisable producer who skilfully hops from headphone to dance styles through cinematic sound design, crisp intricate percussion and immersive atmospheres.

Over the last eight years of releasing music, Deft has built an established reputation out of his own signature sonic personality, drawing influence from hip hop, sound design, house, 140, jungle and footwork. This combination makes him impressively adept at shaking off the constraints of genre and tempo, which in turn has gained him the support of Gilles Peterson, DJ Shadow, Daedelus, Om Unit and Rockwell amongst many others.

Deft’s profile within the electronic music scene saw him strive from peak to peak through a strong and consistent set of highly praised EP’s, collaborations and remixes through labels such as 20/20 LDN, Exit, 1985 Music, Wotnot, Rwina, Project Mooncircle, Skullcandy, 2nd Drop, Brownswood and Hypercolour offshoot Space Hardware to name a few. Along with having the opening track for Maya Jane Coles’ ‘DJ Kicks’ (!K7 Records), Deft has been on remix duties for the likes of Ivy Lab (20/20 LDN), Ital Tek (Civil Music), Gang Colours (Brownswood), Submerse (Project Mooncircle), Glenn Astro (WotNot), Tiga and Graham Coxon (EMI).

As a member of the ever-expanding Wotnot music collective and 20/20 LDN crew, Deft began his performances through live shows, bringing high levels of vigor and excitement to dancefloors in the UK, and has now transferred this energy into his eclectic and fruitful DJ sets around the world. Along with headline shows and tours in Japan, Russia, USA / Canada, China and all over Europe, he has supported the likes of Eprom, Skream, Machinedrum, Martyn, Alix Perez, Bullion, Tokimonsta, Reso and Paul White. Amongst his live & DJ shows, Deft has performed on Boiler Room as well as closing Gilles Peterson’s 2016 Worldwide Awards.
