Last month Boston's own MBX took us on a souls journey to ethereal bliss, expanding our subconscious with his late-night progressive stunner and OHM Music label debut 'Expanse', a beautiful expression of sound that put him on the map as THE artist to watch. It is Alex Morelli who sends out the first call to the 'Banshee' spirit, softening the tone if only for a fleeting moment as he deposits a dark festival twist that heralds the 'Banshee' up from the depths of the underworld to join us as our bodies gyrate on the dance floor. With crystalline melodic detail, Alex Morelli teases the senses with contained brain-bending builds that ebb and flow as the rhythm takes us to a domain locked far within our subconscious state.

"With this album, I tried to create sounds that was balancing between beauty and sadness. For me, all forms of good art is like a force pulling you into a place that is confusing, mysterious, maybe even scary. I feel vulnerable in there, but in a sort of good way, because that vulnerability also makes me feel alive and connected - to the world and all the people in it, with all their different burdens and memories, good and bad. I believe that everything and everyone is partly broken, and that there’s a certain beauty to that, which I try to capture in my music.

‘Misplaced’ is my second album release on Anjunadeep, and might be my most ambitious project so far, in terms of number of songs and how much time I spent making them. It was composed and recorded in three different places: in my apartment in Stockholm, in a studio I rented last fall in Stockholm old town, and in my family’s summer house in northern Sweden. Most of the songs are built around my own recordings of piano, guitars, cello, voices, percussion and ambient sounds - I seem to use less and less pure electronic sounds like synthesizers and drum machines."

Betoko & Paul Sawyer return to ICONYC with the remix edition of ''I'll Be Here' which also featured heavily as the title song of the first ICONYC TV season. The duo's last outings on the label were received to high acclaim – with big support from the big player's brigade at the time. With their long-awaited return we get a slice of spring vibes with 4 outstanding reworks of their classic anthem. Betoko kicks things off nicely with his interpretation, the melancholic moodiness of his rework shines through as we meander effortlessly through 80's inspired melodies, while the sultry chords and vocal sit wonderfully on top adding an extra layer of depth. 

The first remix comes courtesy of Blaktone, famed for their intricate and refined productions on labels such as Selador, Sincopat and Mango Alley to name a few. The duo delivers a great take on 'I'll be Here'. Their rework creates tension from the word go, as the atmospheric vibe subtly keeps you moving with warm tinkling sounds, a smooth techno edge and some nicely effected sounding pieces. We basically have the formula for a bit of a monumental outing. The sparseness is the key here, as this restrained gem works its magic while it plays away, creating a deep glow, creating an air of sophistication. 

Next up we welcome Berlin based Tony Casanova for his debut on the label. Tony who is known for his polished and driven sound, keeps the ethereal theme of the original alive, as the pulsating bass powers along, before its drum fills and general warmth all combine to do the talking. Like something from yesteryear, yet sounding fresh – Tony's touch up takes the energy levels up a notch, but increases the melancholy with stripped back and lucid elements at the same time, before the luscious pads grace the rework changing the vibe and creating a blanket of warmth that wraps around the effected groove. 

Last but not least we have a remix courtesy of MXV who returns to the label for the second time. The UK based producer delivers a wonderful floating deep mix with infectious chords, intense drums and smooth breakdown. It's all about the groove, silky house vibes and the despondent beats that are working their magic around MXV's wonderfully arranged keys that create an irresistible rhythm while clever chords take the mind on a trip. A truly beautiful cultivated rework. 

The remix edition of Betoko & Paul Sawyer's 'I'll Be Here' manages to deliver a message of sustained musical relevance in emphatic fashion to warm the soul. Not to be missed! 'I'll Be Here' sees a worldwide release on April 27th, 2020 via all well-known digital content providers. Not to be missed!

Simon Doty made his label debut last year on Anjunadeep Explorations 11 with the delightful ‘Sama’. Quickly following this, Simon featured on Anjunadeep 11 with ‘This Time’, a collaboration with fellow Canadian vocalist Forrest, and now the second track on his new ‘Airtight EP’.

Consisting of three genre-jumping tracks, the ‘Airtight EP’ demonstrates Doty’s versatility in the studio. Whilst ‘This Time’ introduces a warm enveloping soundscape, title track ‘Airtight’ picks up the tempo in a pumping anthem suited to early morning dance floors. In another change, ‘Noveria’ plies fluttering arpeggios and vocal chops in a whimsical finish to the Canadian’s debut EP.
